Thirty Seven: When All Ends Well

For a couple of days, Hansol does not appear before them. Jeonghan has had his anger subside but he doesn't want to see Hansol yet. It's better that he doesn't see him till he leaves for the U.S. That way he can set aside his anger for good.

Seunghee thinks Hansol took her advice not to see her for the mean time. She thinks that it's for the best of them all. So she doesn't call him or send him messages either, giving him enough time to pull through by himself.

That morning, Seunghee is at school walking at the corridors with Areum and Sorn just after class.

"I bet Jeonghan's gonna freak out if you say you're trying for an international school," Areum laughs at the thought.

"I'll ask him first of course. I can't make difficult decisions like that alone," Seunghee shares.

Sorn utters, "If he says no, you won't go?"

"I don't know. Maybe I'll try to convince him," Seunghee giggles.

And the other girls laugh with her. Suddenly her phone rings and she checks it to see Hansol's mom calling.

"Eommoni? Hello?" she answers the phone call right away.

'- Seunghee-ya sorry to bother you, but is Hansol with you? -' the other line says.

"Ani, Eommoni, he's not here. We haven't seen each other for a few days now."

'- Is that so? If he's not with you then where could he be? I don't think he has anywhere else to go to. Seunghee I need your help, he didn't come home last night. He didn't contact me either. His phone is off. And he doesn't have his cards with him. I don't think he has enough money for a ride and stuffs. So I'm really getting worried Seunghee. Can I ask you to search for him too? If you don't mind. If you have time. -'

"Sure Eommoni. No problem with me. I'll try to look for him around town. I'll keep in touch okay? Don't think too much Auntie. He probably just got somewhere to unwind. He'll get by."

'- I sure hope nothing bad happened to him. Thank you, Seunghee. -'

"Yah, I'll call you later. Bye."

She holds the phone down feeling worried sick about Hansol. Where can he possibly go? She thinks hard, forgetting about the two other girls she's with.

Areum and Sorn have been asking her what's going on since she put the phone down but she only responds when Areum finally put a hand on her shoulder.

"What?" she replies, still a little spaced out.

"Are you okay? Who was that?" Areum tells her.

"Yah, you got distracted after the call unnie," Sorn adds.

She finally snaps out of it and tells them, "It's Hansol's mom. She said he didn't go home last night."

"What is he? A preschooler?" Areum laughs it off.

But Seunghee's expression doesn't change, "He didn't bring any money with him. His phone is off. He barely knows this place anymore. And he doesn't have anywhere to go off to. I'm just worried unnie."

"Can he possibly be lost? But then how far can he get by on foot?" Sorn asks.

"Don't worry too much. He'll probably go home the moment his stomach grumbles," Areum mutters.

"I hope so... but the one thing he does is always tell his mom where he would go," she pauses but decides to go anyway, "I'm sorry, I really have to go. I can't stay still not doing anything. I have to go find him. See yah later guys."
