I walked over to the pool lifeguard staff room typed in the code to unlock the door and entered. Mel was sitting down on the couch eating her lunch.

"Hi, Levi right?" She sounded very friendly.

"Yeah but my friends call me Jay" I said and smiled back as I went over to my bag getting my food out.

I know it seems strange that I have not yet formally introduced myself to Mel. But I seemed to be meeting new guards every day and have not yet had the chance to talk with everyone.

"How do you get Jay from Levi?" She asked.

"Well to be honest I can't remember, my friends started calling me Jay a long time ago"

"Others call you rookie too I heard" Mel said sarcastically and then we both laughed.

"It's all good Jay don't take what Harry said personally, his got a really nice side once you get to know him".

"I really don't know him all that much, I admit though I made a lot of mistakes when I started and I guess I just happened to work with him" I said as I started to eat my lunch of sweet potato and chicken. It was bulking season after all.

"Jay, Harry works like nearly every day, look at his time sheet" Mel said as she pointed over to the time sheet folder.

I went over and went through the list. I looked for Harry P. Baxar and found his. In the last fortnight he worked 141 hours, that's over 10 hours each day for the last 2 weeks. Not to mention 70 of those hours where slide duty. What in the actual fuck. No wonder he can do the Boom move flawlessly he worked five times the amount I have worked since I started.

"How is this possible? Any normal person would have gone mad" I said as Mel started to laugh.

I never wanted to end up like that. That was madness. My plan from the start was to infiltrate Waterpark as a lifeguard and apply for a job up in the gym, that way I could work both jobs getting good hours. I was a qualified Personal trainer after all.

However I was finishing university soon so I probably won't need to apply for a gym job.

"So Levi-I mean Jay what do you do outside of Lifeguarding" Mel asked.

"Well I am actually waiting on university results from my last exam, I wanted a summer job before I graduate next year". I said as I finished my sweet potato.

"Ohh cool"

Mel didn't seem interested at in in what I was studying at university. For the record I was nearly finished my business degree.  My last subject was statistics which I had failed statistics before. I was not sure how I went on the exam, pretty sure I passed it.

"Hey Between you and me is Loretta always angry?" I secretly asked

"Only if you piss her off. I do know she time's breaks and picks on people she doesn't like". Mel said.

"Well looks like I fucked up" we both laughed. "What did you do?" Mel asked

"I asked for my break"

"Never ask for a break when Loretta is on, that is a Rookie mistake" Mel said as she started to laugh.

"Well I learnt that the hard way obviously" I said as I cut up some chicken.

"Better look for a new job then Jay, Loretta works a lot" Mel said

"Yeah well I am actually looking to get a job up in the gym, I am a PT as well" I smiled and then continued "Do you know who is in charge of the gym?" Mel had worked here at Waterpark for a while so I was pretty sure she knew who was in charge of the gym.

"Yeah, I was talking to him the other day. His name is the 'Goodman' She smiled as I looked at her in confusion.

"What" I replied.

"That's what he called himself, I have no idea what his real name is, sorry" Mel said as she smiled again.

"He actually said his name was the 'Goodman'"

"yes that's what I said"

"And you have no idea what his real name is?"

"Nope."

"Well thanks for the help, it's a lead I guess" As I finished my food I put it away and the door opened. Anyone but Loretta I thought.

"ROOK-IE" Harry yelled as I jumped.

"Pat-ty" I said as I ate the rest of my chicken.

After finding out that Harry worked so much, I did see him differently now and understood why he mocked me. I guess he saw that I had it easy, well that was his opinion.

I left the room with my wallet and phone to go by a coffee from the daybreak café. I had a missed call from David Lundis.

I'll call Lun after work. For now I just needed that coffee.
