The next few days just consisted of work and placement. I worked more hours for free than I got paid lifeguarding. The thing was I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more. The best part was I spent a lot of time with Nicole. The more time I spent with her the more I grew to find new ways to feel attracted to her. . She had a lot of respect, people literally broke their backs to thank her and wanted to speak with her even if it was just a casual 'hello'.
She was almost too perfect, no flaws, just a nice sweet mature girl. The awards ceremony came and went, to award fellow staff that had achieved excellence this year. Harry Patrick Baxar won Lifeguard of the year which made me angry. Lara actually said he won an award for doing nothing. Next was Loretta Mchonda who won Duty manager of the year a second time in a row. Many lifeguards were angry at this decision. While this only made Loretta have a bigger ego.
This also made me even angrier. Personal trainer of the year went to Nicole Van Oscar which was the only award I was truly happy with. She deserved it more than the rest. The last award was the leadership of the year. I was rooting for Jamie Owen who had been in charge of a hundred lifeguards this year. However the award went to the Goodman for doing such a good job of running the place in Jerome Cole's Absence. I truly wonder if ill ever meet that man.
The biggest shock of the event was that the business meeting was going so well considering the incident that had just passed.
The outcome of the meeting would come in two weeks. Other than that Loretta has been a complete bitch to work with. Maybe due to the trauma of the incident but she seems to be picking on me at every chance she gets. I also get evil eyed from her when I work in the gym. Harry on the other hand has gone completely quiet. He seems he is scheming something sinister. To make matters worse Harry has become a minor celebrity after his news interview where he capitalized on his independence and how he takes lifeguarding very seriously. I was completely lost in thought as Tony Cars came back from the rest room.
"Well Jay after some thought that is a really good idea. Of course you would have to plan it accordingly" Tony said.
"Yeah I hope I am not over thinking this man" I said.
"Jay you always over think everything" Tony said as he took a sip of the coffee he had been drinking.
"This is really good coffee by the way"
"Its ok, I have had better" I said thinking back to the zeta café and seeing Nicole Van Oscars face.
"Jay, just understand that this girl, Nicole she may just be trying to be nice"
"Yeah but she invited me to her 21st and when we talk, I always feel like we click" I said feeling a bit offended.
"Yeah but Jay girls do that, they try and be nice to not hurt your feelings" Tony said as he took a big sip from his coffee.
