I walked right up and saw the blonde girl from before who was standing behind the daybreak cafe counter.
"Hi, I haven't met you before have I" she said in a lively manner. I was startled by her mood. For working in a café she was extremely happy. She was tall, skinny, blonde hair and very pretty.
"Hi I am Jay Hart one of the lifeguards, nice to meet you" I smiled
"I am Lara Booker Nice to meet you. So what are you after today?"
"Just a Cappuccino please" I really needed that coffee.
"Ok well just letting you know this is the coffee we have and its really shit. So don't expect anything good, because our manager buys shit coffee on purpose because it's cheap." Lara said holding the brand of shit coffee as I just started laughing.
That was hilarious. I have never heard a café worker be so straight out with a customer. Lara laughed as well. She was a very bubbly character and seemed very out of place in her job. She started to make the coffee and I just struck up another conversation.
"So have you ever seen the 'Good man'"? I asked as she turned around.
"Yeah that guy is awesome, he comes here all the time" Lara said as she poured the milk into the coffee cup and handed it to me.
It smelled ok, nothing special. I was warned it was shit so I get what I pay for. I gave her the money for the coffee.
"Do you know his real name" I sounded very curious . Who goes around a centre calling himself the 'Good man'?
"I do, but I am not telling" She smiled.
"Why?"
"You want to work for him up in the gym, yes?" Lara hastily replied.
"How did you know?"
"Just a hunch" Lara smiled.
That was a pretty good guess. That was the moment I knew that there was something about Lara. She had some kind of natural instinct that made her aware of people. In a way she was very similar to me.
"Jay, you finish in a couple of hours? Come back at the end of your shift, he usually comes at that time. Ill introduce you to him". Lara said as she smiled.
It made me feel happy and I felt that for the first time I had been here I had made a good friend.
