When Connie awoke, she was lying on her front, her head resting on her arms. She lifted her head up and immediately put her hand to it. It was throbbing, and every movement just enhanced the pain.
She slowly opened her eyes a fraction and squinted as her eyes adjusted to the light shining through the curtains.
She turned her head to the side, where Jacob was laying beside her, grinning, his arms behind his head.
"Good morning sweetcheeks. I thought you were never going to wake up."
Connie just closed her eyes and dropped her head back down. "Too much alcohol" she mumbled into the pillow.

Last night they had attended a staff night out and Connie was certainly feeling the effects of the large amounts of alcohol she had consumed. She hadn't wanted to go, but Jacob just wouldn't take no for an answer. She had reluctantly agreed in the end, with the help of quite a few drinks before they had even left the house just to get her there.
Jacob chuckled as he thought back to the state Connie had been in when he had to drag her home and put her into bed late last night.

Connie rose from her seat and made her way down the long table until she was stood at the end, facing everyone. The rest of them were deep in conversation and no one had realised that Connie had got up, until she began tapping her wine glass continuously with a spoon to get their attention.
Everyone soon stopped talking and looked up to see what the terrible noise was.
Connie grinned and raised her glass towards them all. "To all, of my wonderful, amazinggg department staff, I would like to raise a toast."
Jacob's put a hand over his face. Oh god. What was she doing? She'd drunk far too much wine and he needed to stop this before she did something stupid.
Connie continued her speech while Jacob stood up from his seat and began to make his way to her.
"You guys, you are just the best! You are all so good at saving patient's lives! Well obviously not as great as me, because I am of course, the queen of saving lives." Connie looked around the table and gave them all a big smile.
The staff all looked at each other in amusement. This was a Connie they had never seen before, but they were enjoying this side of their clinical lead.
Connie noticed Jacob making his way towards her and her smiled widened. She addressed the group again. "Jacob Mastersss. Now, that man everyone, mm...just look at him...he's all mine though...so pleeease everyone, try not to be jealous. Not that I'm worried about competition, because let's be realistic everyone, you are all definitely, sooo out of his league-"
Jacob had reached Connie by this point, and she stopped talking when she felt him place a hand on her arm and begin to pull her away.
"What are you doing Jacob? I have not finished yet" Connie looked at him in utter confusion. Why was he trying to spoil her speech?
"I think you have said more than enough" Jacob smiled as he removed the wine glass from her hand and placed it down on the table.
Connie shook her head and crossed her arms. "I think, you will find, that I have more words to say, actually" she turned back to the group who were trying to suppress their laughter. "Thank you each and every one of you, for being a member of my excellent department. Keep working hard please....right, I think that is everything...so thank you again and I love you all! Now, why don't we get some more drinks ordered? Next round is on me"
The whole table erupted into laughter and everyone clapped as Connie was reluctantly dragged away by Jacob.
He put his arm around her and helped her stagger back to their seats at the other end of the table. He picked up her coat from the back of Connie's chair and held it out to her. "I think we should go home now"
Connie shook her head and looked at him in disappointment. "But it's still so eeearly Jacob. And, we are just about to order some more drinks...and I'm having so much fun..." Connie slurred as she swayed side to side in front of him.
"You, definitely do not need another drink" he told her.
Connie pouted in disappointment, but let Jacob help put her coat on and lead her outside to a taxi.
"Honestly Jacob...you are suuch a spoil sport. You, need to lighten up a bit babe" Connie said as she attempted to climb in to the car.
Jacob rolled his eyes and helped her in, before climbing in after her.

Connie stumbled up the stairs with Jacob following closely behind when they arrived home.
She immediately removed her dress and stood in the middle of the room in her underwear and heels while Jacob removed his own clothes.
"Let's get you into bed" Jacob told her as he took hold of both of her arms.
Connie took a step forwards and lost her footing, but she was caught by Jacob before she fell. He placed one arm under her knees and the other under her arms, and picked her up.
Connie wrapped her arms around his neck and giggled as he carried her towards the bed and placed her gently onto it.
Jacob went to remove her heels but Connie stopped him. "Noo. I need to keep them on Jacob"
Jacob gave her a confused look. "Since when do you wear heels to bed?" He asked.
"I decided...I should never...ever take them off...just to make sure everyone knows, always knows, that I rule."
Jacob chuckled and climbed onto the bed next to her.
Connie turned onto her side to face Jacob and smiled up at him, running her hand across his bare chest. "I think...I might do love you...Jacob Masters...lots" Connie mumbled.
Jacob smiled as he looked at her tired eyes which were beginning to close. "I think, I might do love you lots too, sweetcheeks" he chuckled as Connie's eyelids finally closed.

"How bad was I last night?" Connie asked as she bit her lip anxiously.
Jacob just laughed.
Connie closed her eyes and pulled the duvet over her face. "I don't remember the last time I felt this rough. I'm too old to be drinking this much"
"I think you had a good time though" Jacob grinned.
Connie removed the covers and looked at him. "Please tell me I didn't do anything stupid?" She asked hesitantly.
Jacob chuckled. "Ohh I'm not sure you want to know what you got up to last night"
Connie stared at him in horror. She honestly couldn't remember a thing about last night. These were her department staff that she was going to have to face at work.
"You were certainly feeling the love" Jacob said.
Connie gave him a questioning look.
"You told the whole department that you love them" Jacob grinned.
"Ha ha, very funny Jacob" Connie laughed.
Jacob shook his head. "I'm not kidding. You gave a very lovely speech though, the staff certainly loved it" Jacob told her trying not to laugh.
"I made a speech?" Connie's eyes widened with shock.
Jacob nodded. "Mmhm. Don't worry though, you didn't hesitate to remind us where we all stand, under you and your reign of the ED."
Connie smiled and moved closer to Jacob, so she could rest her head against his chest.
Jacob stroked her hair and smiled as he relived her amusing words. "I think, the most entertaining part, was your declaration of love for me" Jacob grinned.
Connie buried her head into him. "Please no, I don't want to hear anymore." She pleaded.
Jacob chuckled. "Right, I'm going to go and make you some breakfast, and a coffee."
Connie moved to allow him to get up and looked down at her feet, confused to see that she still had her heels on. "Jacob, why didn't you take my shoes off?" She asked.
"Apparently you're never taking them off" Jacob told her before gently kissing her lips, leaving Connie confused.
He walked across the room to the door, but before leaving he turned around again. "Oh and sweetcheeks"
"Yes?" Connie asked.
"I think I might do love you lots" Jacob laughed, and walked out of the room, leaving a bewildered Connie staring after him.
