This was only going to be a one part short story but here's another chapter for those who are enjoying it - thank you so much for all the positive comments on the last update! ☺️ Hope I don't disappoint with this next part as it's not very good!

Jacob stormed out of the house and down the drive.
He needed to walk, he didn't know where, but he needed to clear his head.
He was so angry. He couldn't believe that Connie could do this to him. He really had believed that she felt the same way as he did about her. There was no doubt at all in his mind that his relationship with Connie was the real deal, he was serious about their relationship. He loved her.
But, it was clear that Connie didn't feel the same.
Maybe it had just been a poor judgement on his part, perhaps he had been stupid to believe that she could ever feel that way towards him.
She had played him for a fool.

Connie sunk to the floor as her knees became to weak to hold her.
She pulled her knees to her chest and dropped her head.
"I love you" she whispered. "You have to believe me Jacob. I love you."

Why did she always do this? Why did she always manage to ruin any chance of happiness in her life?
Sam was right. Some things just never change - some people never change, and Connie was one of them.
She gripped her hair in her hands, she was so angry at what she had done. She couldn't blame Jacob for leaving her and walking out. She only had herself to blame for that.
She hated the thought of losing Jacob, he had made her feel happiness like she never had before. He had taught her a true kind of love, that she had never experienced before.

She pulled out her phone and scrolled through her contacts until she reached Jacob. She hovered her thumb over the screen. She needed to call him, she needed to explain, she wanted him back, she needed him back.
There's no point she thought, as she dropped her phone to the floor.

An hour later and Jacob hadn't stopped walking. He didn't know where he was going and wasn't taking in his surroundings.
His thoughts were all centred on Connie.
But the anger was turning into upset.
He was distraught.

He found himself at the hospital, his legs had taken him there. He sat down at one of the benches outside and let his head fall into his hands. "I love you Connie." He whispered. "Why did you do it?"
He closed his eyes tightly. She had told him it was real with him, he really believed that she meant it.
He looked up at the hospital and sighed. This is where it all began, inside those hospital walls. Where he first saw Connie, where she first saw him. That building held memories between them.
He thought about the Connie he first met, the Connie who shut him out. She still had her barriers high, those barriers protecting her from her past...
He thought back to Sam's words 'some things never change' they replayed over and over again.
He shook his head. Some things do change, some people do change. He thought back to his past, and the person he used to be, so different to now. He had regrets too.
He had witnessed Connie change even in the small time he had known her, he had watched her flourish before his eyes. She smiled everyday now, she wasn't cold, she wasn't hiding behind any walls.
This was because of Sam, a visit from her past. A reminder of the woman she used to be.
Jacob rubbed his temples in frustration as the thoughts ran through his head. He wanted so badly to forgive her.
The image of her stood in front of him flashed into his mind. The tears had been genuine, he could tell by the look in her eyes that she was sorry. He thought back to the look on Sam's face before he had left, and realised that everything he had said, was purposely to cause trouble. He knew there was something about him that he didn't like.
He pulled out his phone and scrolled through his contacts for Connie's name. He hesitated, not sure if he could call her, not sure if he could forgive her.
But, one thing he was sure about, was that he couldn't let her go.
He pressed the phone to his ear as the number dialled.

Connie lifted her head from her knees when she heard her phone ringing. She leant over to pick it up from where she had dropped it and was shocked at the name displayed on the screen.
She gripped the phone to her ear, and was barely able to speak. "Jacob?"
"Connie"
"I'm so sorry"
The line was quiet for a moment, as Jacob wondered what to say.
"Connie I want to hate you right now, but I can't."
Connie closed her eyes and leant her head back. "I love you Jacob. I'm sorry I let you down. I let myself down. Sam was right though, some things never change, and I guess I have to accept that."
Jacob sighed. "Connie, people can change, and you have changed. Even in the time I have known you, you have changed. We all make mistakes, we all have things we regret. We don't all have a perfect past, and that's what you have to accept. But, maybe we shouldn't focus on the past, because there is nothing we can do to change that. What we can change, is the future. And I know, that I want to spend my future with you, so now is your chance Connie. If this is what you want, if you're serious about us, then we can work things out, but I don't want to waste my time if this isn't for you."
Connie was speechless. He was actually willing to forgive her? She didn't deserve that.
But she was also sure what her answer was. She wanted nothing more than a future with him.
"I promise you Jacob, that you are what I want." It was all she could manage to say.

Jacob hated the sound of Connie crying. He hated the sadness in her voice.
He wanted to hold her, he needed to get back to her.
"I will be there in half an hour."
"Ok" Connie whispered.
