Jacob approached Connie's office feeling hopeful. He was determined that she was going to say yes this time, he wasn't giving in.

"Fancy joining me for a drink tonight sweetcheeks?" Jacob asked as he let himself into Connie's office.
Connie had her back turned away from the door, searching through her filing cabinet. She didn't even bother to turn around when she heard him behind her, and didn't hesitate with her answer. "No"

Jacob was hardly surprised that she had refused him, again, but it wasn't going to make him give up. "Why?" He asked.
Connie rolled her eyes and ignored him, just continued searching for a document.

"Why?" Jacob tried again.
Connie still didn't reply, pretended he wasn't there.

Jacob smiled and walked further into her office. "Why?" He asked, again.

Connie finally stopped what she was doing and pushed her tongue in her cheek. This man just would not give up.
"I don't want to" she finally turned around and glared at him.
Jacob crossed his arms and kept the irritating tone in his voice. "But whyy?"

Jacob smiled as he watched Connie subconsciously imitate his stance and cross her arms too. "Seriously, do you ever give in? You're like an irritating child Jacob" she said bluntly.

"Ah, I see. You're looking for a mature man. Well, I can assure you that I can be-" Jacob began to say.
"I, am not looking for anyone" she interrupted him.
Looking for a man was not something on Connie's to do list.

Jacob paused and studied her face.
"Well I think you should be" he informed her.
"Why?" Connie frowned.
"Because then you might crack a smile once in a while" Jacob told her.
"Excuse me?" Connie pushed her tongue in her cheek and raised an eyebrow.
Jacob chuckled and made his way to the chair and sat himself down. Connie continued to give him one of her looks, waiting for him to explain.
Jacob noticed that she was becoming increasingly irritated so waited a moment before answering.
"You wanna know what I think? I think you're lonely Mrs B."
"I am not lonely. And I certainly do not need a man to make me happy." She assured him.
Jacob smiled and continued anyway.
"So, have you always been lonely?" He asked.
Connie didn't answer. His irritating tone was so infuriating. Why did Jacob feel the need to always bug her?

Jacob looked to the sign on her door and pointed. "Mrs Beauchamp... You married?"
Connie also looked to the door where he was pointing. "Was once" she said bluntly.

Jacob looked back at Connie and acted to be completely in shock at the fact.
"Woah. Mrs B, married?! Now that, is something I can't imagine. Mrs Beauchamp all loved up"
"Wouldn't exactly describe it as that" she muttered.
Jacob was intrigued and leant forward, resting his arms on his knees.
"So, why are you not married anymore?" He asked.
"He got arrested. Divorced him soon after." She said plainly and turned away from Jacob to look on her desk.
"I'm surprised it wasn't you that got him arrested." Jacob joked as he chuckled to himself.
Connie smiled to herself as she picked up her stethoscope from her desk.
She turned back around and walked towards the door. "It was" she smiled sweetly at him.

Jacob wasn't expecting that.
He got up and followed her out of the office.
He was curious now.
"Why was he arrested?"
Connie didn't stop walking.
"I have patients to treat. I don't have time for one of your interrogations Jacob." She called behind her.
"How about we discuss it over dinner later instead then" Jacob asked.
Connie had reached the nurses' station and picked up a file that was lying on the side.
She shoved it against Jacob's chest. "Cubicle 4 needs treating" she told him.
"Is that a no to dinner then?" He asked.
"Yes" Connie stated in exasperation.
"Wait, now it's a yes to dinner?" He grinned.

Connie pushed her tongue in her cheek in frustration, something that encounters with Jacob often led her to do. "No Jacob. No to dinner. It was a yes to no dinner" Connie tried to reinforce.
Jacob chuckled at her desperate attempt to clarify her decision. "It doesn't have to be dinner... what about lunch?" He tried.
Connie stared at him in disbelief. What part of no did this man not understand? She had never met someone so persistent and irritating.
"No Jacob."
"Why?" He asked her with that irritating tone to his voice again.
"I'm not going to change my mind" she assured him as she crossed her arms and stared at him.
"Why?" He asked again.
"I don't want to"
Jacob smiled as he watched her become increasingly annoyed. "Why?"
Connie pursed her lips and looked away. "Go and treat some patients Jacob."
"Why?"
"Because it's your job?" Connie said as she picked up some files and began to make her way to cubicles.

"Why?"
Connie heard Jacob's voice behind her as he followed her to cubicles and rolled her eyes.
"What will it take for you to leave me alone?!" She turned around in frustration.
"Dinner tonight" he smiled innocently.
Connie turned back around and shook her head as she tried to suppress a smile.
She entered a cubicle and turned to close the curtain. "Still no" she said, before pulling it across and shutting him out.

She turned her attention to the patient and began to take a look at the injury.

"Why?"
She had to bite her lip to stop the laugh escaping when she soon heard his voice again from the other side of the curtain.
