Connie stood impatiently by the front door. Heels and coat already on, car keys in hand.
All she needed now was for Jacob to come downstairs, so they could set off for work.

"Jacob I'm leaving without you" she called.
"I will be there in a minute" she heard him shout back.
She rolled her eyes. "You better be, I'm counting"

Finally, Jacob appeared at the top of the stairs.
He ran down them and put his shoes on, then grabbed his jacket from the hook.
"Ok I'm ready" he smiled.
"About time" Connie muttered as she opened the front door.

"Got everything?" She asked Jacob as she began reversing off the drive.
Jacob nodded. "Yep."

They had been driving for 15 minutes when Jacob realised he had forgotten his phone. "Er Connie." He said quietly.
"Yes?"
"I forgot my phone."
Connie rolled his eyes and turned around at the next opportunity. Jacob certainly liked to pick his moments - they were already running late this morning.
She pulled back onto the drive and handed him the keys. "Hurry up" she told him.
She tapped her fingers on the steering wheel as she waited for him to return, and finally, he sat back down in the car, phone in hand.
"Are you sure you have everything?" Connie asked.
"I'm sure" he grinned.

"Are we there yet?" Jacob whined.
"Do you think you're funny?" Connie asked bluntly.
Jacob chuckled. "I know I'm funny"

Jacob switched on the radio and turned the volume up. It was the number 1 in the charts and he began singing along.
Connie switched it off. "I'm not listening to this rubbish"
Jacob smiled and switched it on again.
Connie switched it off.
Jacob switched it on.
"Fine" Connie said, defeated. "But turn the volume down."
Jacob smirked and turned the volume up.
"Stop it" she warned him sternly.
Jacob smirked and turned it down a little.
Connie raised an eyebrow.
Jacob knew exactly what that look meant and turned it down a little more.

"Are we there yet?" Jacob asked.
Connie ignored him.
"How long until we are there?"
Connie pushed her tongue in her cheek.
"Are we nearly there?" he asked again.
He watched her get increasingly irritated and smiled.
"You can get out and walk in a minute." She snapped.
"You're in a good mood this morning sweetcheeks." Jacob smiled sarcastically.
"You would be too, if you had a meeting with Hanssen, followed by two board meetings on a Monday morning." Connie returned his sarcastic smile.

For the remainder of the journey to the hospital, Jacob kept relatively quiet.

"What time is your meeting?" Jacob asked as Connie pulled into a car parking space.
"I'm meeting him at 9." She muttered.

Connie checked her watch. It was already 8:55. She rolled her eyes, thanks to Jacob, they had got here only just in time.

Jacob unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned towards Connie. He turned his head towards him and gently kissed her.
Connie soon pulled away. "Right I really have to go now. I will see you later." She smiled.
"You have five minutes yet." He grinned.
Connie gave him a disapproving look.
"Tell him you were stuck in traffic." Jacob said as he leaned in to kiss her again.
Connie was ready to refuse, she really should go in now...
But, another five minutes was certainly tempting.
She reached over and paced her hands around his neck, locking her lips on his.

A tapping on the window caused them to pull apart in surprise.
"Oh great" Connie mumbled as she saw who it was.
She wound down the window and gave Hanssen a big smile.
"Ah, Mrs Beauchamp. I see that you're somewhat preoccupied at the moment. You're cutting it a little fine this morning aren't you? I do hope you haven't forgotten about our meeting, that starts in approximately 3 minutes." He said with a smile.

Connie pushed her tongue in her cheek as he walked away. He had the cheek to criticise her, yet there he was sauntering in this morning with only minutes to spare.
"That man is unbelievable. He's not exactly punctual this morning himself is he?" She muttered.
Jacob chuckled. "We will resume this later, I think you better go now."
Connie sighed. "Wish me luck." She said as she opened her door and stepped out.
