Chapter 22
Lany was in her bedroom, trying to put her clothes in order in her wardrobe. She looked towards the door, after she had heard a noise at it.
Her brother appeared there and he seemed concerned.
"What happened?" You look strange!"
"It's me who should ask you that."
Nelio seemed suspicious. "What's this rumour I hear that you were in the nightclub last night?"
"Did the gossipers on duty tell you that?" She turned her nose up at him.
"So it is true." He deduced.
"Yes, it is true." She stared at him. "I went to have fun."
"They told me Antony dragged you by the arm and you went outside the nightclub. Is this true too?"
"Yes, it is also true." She confirmed in fear that her brother would begin to distrust his friend Antony.
"Why did he do that?" he persisted.
"He did that..." She thought fast on an excuse to cover up the whole truth. "Hum... he did that because he said you would not like it if you found out I was alone in the nightclub."
She reviewed her brother's countenance and noted that he had accepted the justification. Then she continued the dialogue with relief.
"He wanted to protect me, as if he was my older brother and then he brought me home."
"He wanted to help me with my responsibility." He understood his best friend's attitude. "If I were there, I would have brought you home and given you a good beating."
"You're crazy if you think you can put your hand on me!"
"You don't know me well!" his voice sounded threatening.
"Put your hand on me and you'll see what will happen to you!" She said challenging.
"You do it again and you will see if I am or am not crazy."
He turned his back to her and left her room.
