Chapter 17
Nelio came home and he seemed nervous. His parents were asleep and only his sister was awake.
"What happened, Nelio?" She noticed her brother's nervousness.
"There was an accident during the car racing... Two cars collided and Antony was driving one of them."
"Antony?" her eyes were larger. "How is he?"
"I still don't know. I'm going to the hospital now."
"I will go with you." She was nervous and started to sob. "Why did that happen to him?"
"Why are you crying?" He asked looking into her eyes becoming suspicious.
"I think of Antony like close relative," she said stunned.
"I see him as my brother," Nelio said losing his suspicion as he thought only about his friend.
"We'll have to get to the hospital! He'll need us," she said.
"Like this? In your nightgown?" he asked her.
She looked down at herself.
"I'll put on a dress. Wait for me!" She said and walked in a hurry to her bedroom.

They arrived at the hospital and walked hurriedly to the room where the boy was hospitalized.
Antony was lying on a bed. He had hurt his left arm and suffered a cut on his forehead. However, he was out of danger.
"Glad it wasn't anything too serious," Nelio said looking at him.
"I thought I would die!" He said, relieved.
"Your lifetime has not ended yet! You will have a long life!" Nelio joked as he was putting his hand on his friend's shoulder.
Lany remained further back observing Antony. She was dying to embrace him and fill him with her kisses.
"I prayed for you!" She said even from afar and her voice rang with tenderness.
"Thank you!" He was happy because the girl was in his presence.
"Antony is ready for another race!" Nelio mocked. "And also for women!"
Lany angrily stared at her lover and Antony looked in another direction as he looked embarrassed at his friend's joke.
"I left my car door open." Nelio recalled. "I'm going to close it. I'll not be late."
He left the place moving in great strides.
Lany was relieved to be rid of her brother for a short time. She could barely wait for that moment, to be alone with her secret lover.
Then she walked hurriedly toward her only love's bed.
"I couldn't stand it any longer... I was holding myself back from throwing my arms around you in the presence of my brother." She lifted his hand and kissed his head.
"I don't know what would become of me if you really had died," she confessed, her distress very clear.
"At the moment of my accident, I just thought of you... death came to fetch me and all I wanted was to see you for the last time," he confessed.
"You survived and that's what matters now." She squeezed his hand with the same intensity of her love for him. "You're here with me." Then she kissed him lightly on his lips. "I love you."
A nurse came into the room carrying another serum bottle. The couple was surprised by her and they released each other's hands.
Lany moved away from his bed and returned to her place, further away from Antony.
She did not want to arouse suspicion.
