POV-Oliver
"Do you love me?" I ask Felicity as we stand in the middle of the foundry in each other's embrace.
"Probably" she replies softly not moving from where she is.
My heart skips a beat, after the 3 months apart, I thought she hated me. I thought she was building a wall between us, but she didn't. Not my Girl.
Our moment is broken up by the ringing of Felicity's phone. She hesitantly lifts her head off of my shoulder and pulls her arms away. I don't quite let go of her, still keeping my arms wrapped around her waist. We make eye contact and her gaze makes me feel like myself, safe and most importantly, loved.
"So what now?" I ask her, still not letting her go.
"I answer my phone, and then work on tracking down brother eye."
"Not what I meant, Fel-lic-ity"
"I know, I just needed a few more seconds to think of a response," she says with a bittersweet smile.
"Did you come up with one yet?" I ask, brushing a piece of hair away from her angelic face.
"You're starting to ask as many questions as Macy," She laughs.
"Still working on you response then, I take it?"
This time Felicity doesn't respond right away. She plays with the hem of the neckline of my shirt, her fingers occasionally touching my bare skin.
"I need time, to figure things out with Ray and Us. There is more than a chance that I love you and care from you more than Ray, but you need more then love in a relationship. You need commitment and need to want the same things in life. I want a family and....and."
"And you don't know if that possible with me, because of being a vigilante. It's ok to say it, it's the truth," I finish for her.
"A hero," she corrects placing her hand on the side of my face. "Not a vigilante at all, always a hero Oliver Queen."
"Only because of you. Felicity I understand what you mean about you having a family, you'll be a great mother. More times than once, I have imagined you at park or at and ice cream shop with, a few curly blonde haired children. Who talk a mile per minute and are just a brilliant and smart as you. I want you to be happy and get what you deserve in life. I want to have a family to someday but can't as soon as you wish. I can't have a family while this city still isn't safe."
"Oliver this city is never going to be truly safe, it's impossible. You will be a great father some day. Between the way you treat Brynn, Macy and Roy, you got the toddler, teenager and young adult years down," She says and I laugh lightly.
Felicity's phone begins to ring again and this time she starts to walk away. I refuse to let go of one of her hands until she can no longer take a step without break our touch.
"Oliver, let go I need to answer my phone."
I let go of her hand and watch as she picks up her phone with a horrified expression, letting it continue ringing.
"Everything okay, Lis?" I ask.
"Don't call me that," she snaps.
"Sorry, I heard Macy call you it so I thought it was ok,"
"Well it's not."
"Felicity what's wrong? Everything was fine a second ago what happened?" I ask concerned. I walk over to her gently puts my hand on her elbow.
"It's my mother, calling me," She says as the phone begins to ring again.
"Oh" I say at a loss of words because last time we talked about her family we ended up having a huge fight. Things were said that should have never been said and I wish I could go back and change it but I can't. That conversation itself helped create the hole in our relationship. "Maybe you should answer it."
"I have nothing to say to her," Felicity says coldly.
"Felicity, I'm sure it's important if she keeps calling. You might not have anything to say to her, but she may have something to say to you" I say and then she takes a deep breath and looks up at me.
"Can you, um, stay here, with me while I talk to her on the phone. You know so you can stop me from saying anything absolutely horrific or life threatening. I'm mean you don't have to if you don't want to. I can see how it would maybe make you uncomfortable. I just-" The blonde babbles.
"Of course, I'll be right her" I say reassuringly. She gives me a little nod than brings the phone to her ear.
"Mom?.....Hi, yeah....Sorry I was busy with, with work......YOUR WHAT....Mom, you don't think you could have told me earlier...no you didn't...you actually have to hit send to send a text, you know that right?....I can't now Mom, I'm at work. I actually have job during the day with set hours, I don't spend all night out working and getting drinks and then sleeping or doing whatever everyday....I know its evening, my job is pressing and very important...NO you don't understand it's much more than that...Ok whatever, I'll see what I can do than I'll call you back...Ok just stay away from my computer and don't break anything." Felicity talks into the phone and I stand by her side holding her in my arms reassuringly.
Once she hangs up she picks up a pen and throws it across the room.
"I'm guessing it didn't go to well." I say looking at the pen rolling across the cement floor.
"You would be correct," Felicity says sitting down and taking of her glasses and running her hand over her hair. "She's in town. More specifically in my house and didn't tell me before hand. She wants me to come spend time with her, but I can't. She doesn't understand that I have more pressing issues than not showing enough cleavage or being terminally single, you probably didn't want to know that last part."
"It's ok. Do have a plan?" I ask placing my hand in her back as she rests her hands in her back.
"I, uh-" she starts bring her head up off the desk. She wipes a few tears from her eyes and looks at me. "I can set something up so the next time brother eye comes online Macy or I can track the virus and try to bring it down while tracking their base of operation. I'll run home, taking Brynn with me, my mom loves babies. I'll get her to watch Brynn and come up with some excuse than come back her and help out. I'll also call Ray, and tell him I can't go out and get a drink with him anymore."
"What can I do to help?" I ask.
"Go get the others from upstairs for me and bring my food down, I'll eat while I drive or while I work on the computer."
"Felicity, you don't have to do this we can figure out an easier way. I don't want to stress you or over work you," I say.
"It's too late for that. It's ok I'll be alright, just don't break any of you're promises on me." She says typing at the computer.
"Never" I say kissing the top of her head than starting upstairs.
