I was in complete blackness at first. Then, a distant yell. I could see my mother and Wade fighting through a doorway with a broken-down door. My mom was yelling at Wade for driving me away. She was crying, I never actually thought she really cared about me since she left me with her alcoholic boyfriend all the time. That's when she screamed something that made me pay attention to what was going on, "YOU DRUNK BASTARD! YOU NEED TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW!" That's when Wade said something about Mom needing him to which she replied, "YOU DROVE HER AWAY! I should've listened to her..." She looked so despondent. "WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?! GET OUT NOW! DON'T YOU EVER FUCKING COME BACK AROUND HERE! I DON'T NEED YOU, I need my daughter..." Mom dropped to her knees with tears running down her cheeks. Wade didn't move and that's when mom went crazy. She screamed and threw a nearby vase at Wade, chased him out the door, and slammed the door shut. She locked the door and slid down it. I watched my mother sob with her mascara running down her face.
Then I woke up...
I sat up in bed sweating slightly and breathing heavily. I could feel hot tears going down my face. I scrambled around the room looking for my cloak so I could get my phone out. It was apparently 4:30 A.M. "Well, I didn't get much sleep..." I unlocked the phone and saw ten voicemails from Seth. "I'm going to ignore those..." Then my phone rang with my mom's ringtone that was Stewie from Family Guy bothering Lois. I stared down at the caller ID for maybe a full ten seconds. Finally, I picked it up. "Mom?" She started to talk and her voice sounded strained and scratchy. "(Y/n)? honey? Where are you baby doll?! Are you okay??" I sighed and scratched my head. "I'm fine Mom... The people here are taking good care of me. As for where I am, I know where I'm at, I just don't know how I got here or how to get home. I'm sorry Mom." I felt a tinge of anger, "Have Wade comfort you, 'cause Mom, I hate to say it, but I'm not sure I want to come back... Where I'm at is exciting, and besides, I'd rather not go home and have to deal with the Drama King." I always called Seth the Drama King to my mom, my dad, and (Y/f/n) when he annoyed me with his jealousy and possessiveness.
Mom sounded heartbroken, "Oh. Who are you staying with? I can't make you come home since you're eighteen now. Happy birthday by the way, but you'll call me, right Babydoll?" My mom hadn't called me Babydoll since I was devastated about my little sister, that was three years ago... Cassadee was two years younger than me. I took a big breath and said "Mom I miss you, but not even you would know how to bring me back... I love you. I'm sure that I'll be safe here with Levi, Erwin, and the others." That was a major lie. I knew I'd probably be in danger most of the time, but I couldn't tell Mom that. "I'm learning to defend myself and they're treating me as a part of the family. You don't need to worry about me Mom, in fact, I'm going into the military... I really like the training. I gotta go soon though." I watched out the window as the sun started to slowly rise. I heard my mom choke back a sob. "I'm glad you're happy Babydoll... As for Wade, he's gone. I ran him out of the house, I should've listened to how much of a bum you said he was. Honey, please be careful." "I will Mom, Love you." "I love you too (Y/n)."
I hung up and took a deep breath and straightened my uniform out, making sure there weren't any wrinkles in the fabric, mainly because I wanted to look my best. Anyway, I walked to my door and opened it, where I almost got hit in the face with a fist about to knock on my door. "Oh, Captain Levi! Did you need something?" I cocked my head to the side, rather confused. Levi then cleared his throat very awkwardly and pulled something out from behind his back and gave it to me. I looked at it and with it being dark from the early morning, I felt that it was a type of fabric. I offered for Levi to come inside and he went in and sat on my bed while I stood next to an oil lamp I had lit. It was a dim light, but it was enough with the sun coming up soon. I looked at what Levi had handed me and it was a jacket. I looked at the insignia which was the Survey Corps symbol. "Thanks, Levi. But... I have a question." Levi groaned and did something I didn't expect him to, he laid back on my bed and made himself rather comfy. Finally, he spoke up, "Well, are you going to ask or what?" I rolled my eyes. "Yeah. So, why is the insignia in the shape of the wings of freedom? I like it, but I'm technically still a cadet." Levi sat up and smirked, "Well, Petra, Erwin, and I are technically your supervisors and if we say you graduated, you graduated. Welcome to the Scouts." I stammered, "I-I-I-... But I haven't even practiced with the 3DMG yet. How?" Levi kept on smirking, which made me feel awesome because it seemed like he felt like he could be himself around me, somewhat at least, I didn't know everything about the guy. I only knew so much. "Considering you've been a natural with the other trials in training, I'd say that you'll be fine. Besides, after stealing my cloak, I figured that you needed a jacket of your own... And, since there are no 'cadet' jackets around here..." I smirked, "Thanks for letting me graduate on account of having no cadet jackets lying around." I stuck my tongue out playfully as I smiled and put on the jacket.
