I got up and checked my phone. Mom sent me a text telling me she loved me and to be careful in the army. I smiled. No more messages from Seth. Good. It hurt yet it didn't. We'd been together for so long, but our relationship just lost that spark. Especially when he started getting pissed about a fictional character. I mean, I'm here now with that certain fictional character now, but in my world, he didn't really exist. Seth Jude Dawson, I thought you were a diamond of a guy, but no. You were overtly insecure and just not what I needed in my life. I texted his number and told him my final goodbyes. I did up my hair in a fishtail braid and walked out the door. I instantly got run into by Levi who was walking by. "Ow... What is it with you hitting me when I've just woken up?" Levi just looked at me like he wanted to say something, but he then scowled. "Watch where you're going." I was taken aback. "um.. okay? What's wrong with you? Wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" Levi scoffed and turned back and stormed off. That was weird... I was going to meet Petra at the armory but fuck it. I needed to know what crawled up Levi's ass and died. So I basically jogged to Petra's room. She probably wasn't up yet considering I got up earlier than normal and was just planning on going to groom my horse, but I needed to talk to her about this.
"Petra?" I knocked on her door lightly. It wasn't a big deal yet it was. Like what did I do wrong? Should I not have gone into his room? Maybe he never actually liked me. Did I piss him off by putting off the talk about what we were? "Petra!" I knocked harder. I don't want to barge in, but... "Petra?!" I knocked louder and Jean walked out of his room probably to yell at me. "Can you not be so loud?! Some of us are trying to sleep here-" Was this a fucking dream? Jean fucking Kirchstein literally just made goo-goo eyes at me like he does to Mikasa. 'I'm not nearly as pretty as her and... okay he's staring so this is awkward.' I stood there like an idiot for probably a full minute. "um... sorry, did I wake you?" Jean started stammering "yeah... I mean n-no! I mean you did, but it's fine. Haha! Ahem. Um, what's your name?" I bit my lip and he could tell I felt awkward, "Sorry, I'm- I just don't think I've seen you around b-before?" I did a half-ass fake laugh and said "No, yeah. It's fine. My name is (L/N), (Y/N) (L/N). I uh trained under squad Levi, mainly Petra Ral. I'm being evaluated to be in Squad Levi... I, uh, tend to stick with the squad, Levi, Hange, and the commander... So that might be why you haven't seen me." I smiled awkwardly and he looked about to say something until I cut him off "Well, I gotta talk to Petra about squad uh business... Nice meeting you!" I opened Petra's door and barged in. "Petra! Wake up." She groaned and threw a slipper at me. "Okay why do you have nightgown shit, but I don't?" She groaned again and I could barely make out that she said her family sent it to her for her birthday a few months ago. I narrowed my eyes at her and stared at her as she started snoring quietly again. I stepped over to her bed and stood over her sleeping body. "Hey, Petra?" "nhh?" "You're drooling." Petra jumped up and squealed, "WHAT?! Oh, that's so gross!" She pushed me out the door and slammed the door behind me.
I yelled through the door, "YOU CAN CUT TITANS UP INTO TINY PIECES BUT YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH A LITTL- MFF!" She came out and covered my mouth. "Speak of this to NO ONE." I raised an eyebrow and she slowly took her hand off my mouth. "Now that you're awake, can I talk to you?" Petra then smiled tiredly and closed the door again and when she opened it within the next few minutes she was all dressed and ready to go. She was about to walk out with me to the armory I guess until I pushed past her into her room. "Um okay?" She closed the door quietly and I sat on her bed hunched over with my head in my hands. "Petra, did I do anything wrong like have you seen me mess up at all with ANYTHING? Like literally anything at all?" Petra sat on the bed with me. "No, not that I know of... w-why?" I got up and groaned out of frustration. "Well, did anything crawl up Levi's ass and die then, because I don't know what else I could have done to piss him off..." Petra then scowled "(Y/n)... it's not you. Trust me. Levi just isn't used to.... intimacy I guess you could say. He pushes everyone he gets close to away at some point. It's in his nature. He's not used to people caring about him."
"That's a shit excuse for being a dick to me. But fine. He wants to act that way, I'll play along." Petra started to say my name to interject, but I interrupted. "No. He wants to be childish I can play along and act like I don't give two shits about him either!" I stormed out and yelled to Petra I'd see her in the armory later. I went down to the stables first and found my horse. I groomed her and leaned my head against hers. "Even in this world, only animals understand how I feel." I rolled my eyes and pet my horse's mane. "I should give you a name... but I'm too emotionally drained to try and think of one." I sighed and saddled the mare up and took off on her just to get my mind off of things. I got to a wooded area within the walls allowing me to get ahold of my thoughts. I teared up a little and wiped my eyes. I finally decided on a name for my mare. It was a simple word meaning danger or destruction. She was the opposite of that, but it seemed a nice name. Calamity. She nuzzled me when I said her name so I figured she liked it. I smiled and hugged her neck. "It's unprofessional to leave the base when not warranted and to not tell anyone where you're going." I heard that familiar voice and the fwump of a man dismounting his horse. "Sorry Captain Levi, but it was warranted. I was compromised emotionally and mentally. You are the one who is unprofessional, not even asking why I would come out here. Oh wait, or is that just being inhumane?"
I glared at him as I turned around and spoke before he could retaliate. "What the hell do you want?" Levi looked hurt for a split second. Then it was back to his usual coldness, something I never got used to. It hurt honestly. "As part of my squad, you are to return back to the base for more basic training. At once." I scoffed, "I'm not a part of the Levi Squad. No sir, not yet. There has been no official word from the commander, therefore I do not have to listen to you." I started to get back on my horse. "Actually, I should go report to the commander. Have a nice evening Captain." With that, I jumped up on Calamity and galloped off toward HQ. I got back to the stables and put Calamity back in her stall and let the stable hands unsaddle her. I jogged off to Commander Erwin's office.
(A/N): Well, long time no see little titan killers. I am glad to bring this back especially since there are new episodes and well, I also hit writer's block with my other book while this one finally got flowing again. So yay for that XD. Thanks for sticking with this, you guys. I'm trying my best to get things moving again for both stories and balance a social life (don't have much of one but what I do have is good lol). Anyway thanks for reading and thanks for what around 650 reads altogether on just this book alone? Thank you so much. I'm already working on the next chapter so you won't have to wait too long for the next chapter!
Shout out to Ladysaotohoshido! They made me believe in my writing again since they commented asking for me to update. I thought about deleting this, to be honest, and they made me remember how some people have reached out to me about this book and Smoke and Mirrors and now I'm trying to get back on track with my writing again.
