We launched the barrels at Rod's titan form. Everyone prepared to go into action once Eren ran at Rod with the explosives. Levi gave me a quick kiss on the hand, that he had grabbed as he was walking by, that no one would notice in the chaos. I nodded at him as he smiled. We set off to slice through the random pieces of the titan's throat that came from the explosion. I looked around for another piece to slice as Levi grabbed me close to him. He pointed at a weird part flying through the air that Historia was flying towards. I smiled, proud of her. I noticed she looked like she was falling. "Historia!" I flew over to her area. She fell onto a cart, but she wasn't moving. I heard a guy ask if she was injured and landed next to the cart. "Historia? Are you okay?" I leaned over to lend her a hand as she sat up. She looked at me and smiled for a split second before standing up on her own. She introduced herself to her people and I smiled proudly at her. I nodded at her and flew back to where I knew Erwin and Levi would probably be. They talked about how the mission was a resounding success and I agreed.

After all that was done, Levi and I went with other scouts to look for survivors of the cave-in and investigate the area by the Reiss family's chapel. Something seemed off about Levi, he wasn't the best conversationalist, especially in front of others, but he wasn't saying anything at all. We stood on top of the rubble, and to try and get a reaction, I made the joke that we couldn't find any survivors if we were standing on the rubble. He didn't budge, even if it was a bad joke he would have said something, even if it was just his signature Tch noise. Something was bugging him. I bit my lip, losing myself in thought as I stared at the ruins of the caves below us until another scout came running saying that they had found Kenny and that he was still alive. Levi looked surprised but went back to his stone-cold emotionless-looking state. He told me he had some business to attend to and I found myself stuck where I was standing. It was one of those times when I couldn't read him at all. He was stone cold. He followed the other scout and I started to reach out to him in protest of talking to him alone as he walked away, but I froze.

Shortly after, the other scout came back to me. We lifted up rocks, looking around for any survivors from Kenny's squad. I sighed to myself. The guy looked at me like he had something to say. "What?!" He jumped and I quickly apologized, "Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out like that- aggressively, I mean." The poor guy still flinched when I held out my hand to introduce myself. I pulled my hand back in regret and continued with another apology. "I'm sorry I scared you. I'm (Y/n) (L/n)." "I-its not that." "Uh... Can you elaborate?" I cocked my head to the side, confused. "You're like Captain Levi's right-hand man- I-I mean woman!" I chuckled half-heartedly, "I guess you could say that." I continued to dig through the rocks. "I can tell you care for the Captain a lot." I groaned as I threw aside a heavy rock and indulged the topic to make conversation with the guy. "What makes you say that?" "I can just tell." I stood up and brushed my hands off on my pants. "Am I that easy to read?" "Not really, but I heard you're the only surviving member of his original squad and I've seen you both around," I smirked and then frowned. "Does everyone know about us?" I ran my hand through my hair. Why did I care what anyone thought about us? The scout shook his head, "it was just a rumor, but you confirmed my suspicion." "I- uh..." "I won't confirm nor deny anything if anyone asks me- i-if it bothers you." I looked down at my feet. "If you want, you should go help him." I nodded, "Thank you. I appreciate that a lot." I sighed looking up at the sky and the scout looked at me. "Are you good?" I itched the back of my head, "It's not that people knowing bothers me, it just feels like we're going against the rules even though I know it's not." The scout nodded, "I won't say anything. It should be your thing to tell people anyway." I smiled at him. "Thank you. Again." I walked off in the direction that I had seen the scout and Levi walk before.

I found where Levi was and saw Kenny's face partially burned. He looked like Two-face from Batman, but not as bad. He had lost a lot of blood. "For a while... It oughta keep me." Kenny looked up at me and Levi didn't even turn his head. "Why'd you follow me here." It was a demand more than a question. It was like when Levi I had first met. "I thought you might need assistance." I stepped closer and started to put my hand on his shoulder, but he shrugged me off. "You're dismissed." "No." "That's an order." "And I'm choosing not to follow it." I grabbed his one hand from the gun and stood next to him. Kenny laughed, "One hell of a woman you got yourself, Levi." His voice was strained and he started coughing before he continued, "I'm sorry we met under such circumstances...?" I nodded solemnly, "(L/n), (Y/n) (L/n)." After I introduced myself Levi dropped my hand to hold the gun properly again. "You had the time and the strength to inject yourself before I got here if you wanted." I looked down at the syringe. I bit my cheek to keep my face from showing my surprised reaction. I took a deep breath and stared at Kenny, daring him to try to hurt Levi. "Why didn't you?" "Fair point." I clenched my jaw at his slight movement.
