Grace was lucky to have a friend like Hannah. Her birthday party was tonight, and Hannah had offered to help her without Grace even having to ask.
Hannah was outside hanging up lights and fixing the deck railing for her, and Grace was in the kitchen with Alessandra, preparing some salads and stuff while watching the girl.
"Alex, can you pass me the tomatoes, please?" Grace asked, holding out her hand. When the girl didn't respond Grace turned around. Apart from herself, no one was in the kitchen.
"Alex?" Grace said, a little louder, "Where are you sweetie?"
She walked out of the kitchen, but stepped into a puddle on her way out.
"Goose!" the woman scolded, "You nasty dog!"
She quickly cleaned her floor. "Stupid nasty dog," She grumbled to herself. It was weird though, Goose hadn't peed in the house in sooo long.
Alex still hadn't returned to her, so Grace thought she'd best go look for the girl. Misplacing her kid would definitely piss Hannah off.
"Alex? Alex where are you?" Grace yelled down the hall. No response.
"Sweetheart, this isn't funny!" Grace started to look into every room, "Alex? Come on now! Stop hiding!"
She pushed the door to her office open, but still no sight of the little girl. She was about to leave when she heard a soft whimper.
"Alex? Are you in here?" Grace asked confused.
"No..." came a soft whisper from inside the closet.
Grace almost chuckled at the innocence of the little girl.
She knocked on the door of the closet, "Can I come in?"
Alex didn't respond, but Grace heard her sniffling softly, so she opened the door anyway.
"What's wrong sweetheart? Why are you crying?"
Alex flinched, trying to hide herself deeper in the closet.
"No, don't be scared, sweetie," Grace soothed, "It's fine. Do you want me to get Hannie?"
The girl shook her head.
"Well, can you tell me what happened then? I can't leave you in my closet forever." The brunette smiled at the girl, hoping to relax her.
She held out her hand for Alex. The girl hesitated for a second, before grabbing Grace's hand.
Grace pulled the girl up and out of the closet.
"Now, what's going on... oooh..." Grace noticed the wet spot on Alex's pants.
The girl was filled with shame, refusing to look at Grace.
"Oh don't worry sweetheart, it happens." Grace lifted the girl up, wiping her eyes, "Let's get you cleaned up, huh?"
She carried Alex with her to the bathroom, helping her out of her dirty clothes, and washed her off.
"Here," Grace handed her an old 'you've been hazed'-shirt. The shirt was long enough to cover the girls knees.
"Perfect!" Grace smiled.
Grace and Alex went back to the kitchen, just when Hannah walked back in.
"Hey, I think the railing is fixed... Alex? Why are you wearing that?" Hannah asked confused.
Alex hid behind Grace's legs.
"Uhm, we were having a little dress-up-party..." Grace lied.
"Oh, okay," Hannah shrugged, "Is there some water around?"

All their friends arrived and everyone had dressed up for the occasion. Alex wore the pink dress she'd chosen herself, and Grace had braided the little girl's hair.
Hannah followed Grace into the kitchen, making sure they were alone.
"What really happened earlier, with Alex?" Hannah asked.
"She, uh, she peed her pants," Grace admitted, "It was my fault really, I forgot to show her where the bathroom is, and I wasn't paying attention... And she was so embarrassed, I didn't want to make it worse..."
"It's fine Grace," Hannah smiled, "I get it."
Hannah pulled Grace into a tight embrace, "Thank you."
At that moment Alex skipped into the kitchen. She saw the two women hug, and promptly pushed in between them, sandwiching herself in the embrace.
Hannah and Grace laughed. The shorter woman picked Alex up, and Grace wrapped her arms around them both.
Alex squealed in delight as Grace and Hannah showered her with kisses and cuddles.
