Taylor gulped down nervously, she returned the embrace yet her eyes wandered until they got to Alison's parents. A row of seats away, there were Liz and Harry Styles, both staring at her direction with shocked expressions on their faces. She looked at them apologetically as if she is already saying a million apologies.
Then, she turned her attention to Alison. She bent her knees just to face the child. Taylor didn't smile at all, but she tried not frowning. Of course, she was slightly disappointed that the child came to her instead though a little part of her is smiling underneath. She didn't want any trouble and she didn't want any argument breaking off from this.
"Hey." Taylor said with a faint voice.
"Thank you for coming, Dr. Swift!" Alison exclaimed. Maybe she saw Taylor's face, and maybe she realized Taylor wasn't so pleased about it, her little smile faded instantly. "Did I. . . do something wrong?" Alison asked, starting to frown.
She shook her head as a response. "No, you did great. But princess, why me?" Taylor asked, she knew Alison would easily understand the question.
Both of them turned their heads to look at the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Styles. Alison looked back at her, now in a gloomy face, "Because you were here from the start."
Taylor sighed. She understand what Alison is going through but she didn't want to come in between Alison and her parents. That doesn't mean I get everything. . . even if I was first. "I might have been, but remember they still came here and they saw you finish, isn't that what matters?"
"Daddy promised he won't be late. You promised you will come. You're the one who didn't break your promise." Alison stared at Taylor with her eyes gleaming with tears.
Don't! Stop looking at me that way! Please. . . "Well, mommy and daddy still came didn't they? Can't you give him any credit for that?" Taylor asked gently.
"Maybe." Alison mumbled and looked at her hands.
"Alison, can you look at me, princess?" Taylor asked and Alison did obey her. "You didn't do anything wrong, okay? You did great in the play, and it's okay to feel a little sad if daddy or mommy is late but. . . don't do that again. You should greet mommy and daddy first." She explained in the best way she can.
"Would they be angry at me?" The child asked, worry is very visible in her voice and eyes. No, but your dad will probably kill me. . . where the hell is Louis?!
"No." Taylor replied. Now she's wondering where Louis was but she didn't take the time. "No, can you go to them now, please?"
"Yes."
"I gotta go too, princess. You did great, I'm so proud of you." She smiled while looking at Alison. "I'll see you around, okay?"
"See ya, Dr. Swift!" Alison waved then ran to her parents, her lovely smile back in her face.
No, Taylor. . . don't look at them any longer, shift your gaze right-- too late. Taylor gulped nervously once again when she saw that Harry's death glare, it was different from the other usual death glares because this one, this one is really deadly. She swore a thousand times inside her head while she walked as quick as she can to the exit. Unfortunately, she still had to pass through the Styles.
