Chapter 9:
(Ellie's pov)
As I was dancing the troubles away knowing I hadn't had this much fun in a while, I felt someone's prying eyes on me but I knew who it was, I didn't need to turn around and give him the satisfaction of my attention. A man came up to me making me jump out of my skin.
"Sorry if I jumped you, I just wanted to know if you wanted to dance?" He asked. He was very attractive, big with body builder muscles and brunette short hair, his suit was smart but also shabby but in a way that rugged look was enticing. I smiled at his gesture and took his hand accepting his offer. It was another slow dance so he took that as a way to get to know me.
"So you're the head witch causing the talk around the room? Ellie is it?" He asked.
"I didn't realize they were talking about me" I said feeling a little conscious.
"I've been saying what a pretty little thing you are" He said making me blush, his deep american accent luring me in.
"You come from afar?" I asked referring to his american accent.
"I was born here but brought up over in America." He explained.
"What brought you back?" I asked trying to ignore the daggering stare that was coming from Harry's direction.
"Wolf business" he said being vague.
"Is that your vampire boyfriend staring at us to death? Or is he friend in need of a dance?"He asked as we both looked over at him, his reaction was cowardly as Harry pretended to look elsewhere.
"My ex." I commented feeling embarrassed. As part of the dance, he leaned me down and whispered in my ear.
"Well then. Lets show him what he knows he's missing" He said before pulling me back up as the beat of the music changed making us dance faster. It was strange to feel this alive again, to have this much fun.
"What's your name anyhow?" I asked as he swiveled me around making me laugh out loud.
"Jake. Jake Huntsman." He said as we stopped taking in the moment, It was drawing close towards him
"Well I'm Ellie Dunson, But you already knew that" I spoke feeling the music draw us close as we took a step so we were in such a distance. Just as something was about to happen, Laura interrupted me by coughing to gain our attention. I turned around blushing.
"I'll just be a minute" I stated before Laura practically dragged me away to an area of the room with less people.
"Hey whats up? why aren't you dancing?" I asked trying to lighten her mood noticing he looked distracted. From the looks of it, she seemed anxious.
"Ellie I just did something really bad." She said sounding worried.
"What happened?" I asked noticing her on edge.
"It was Liam. We were dancing, he got to handsy and you know I have a boyfriend." She explained. I could tell she was nervous about what she was about to tell me.
"Seriously Laura. What did you do?" I asked looking around to see if anyone could hear me.
"He's in the garden" She muttered. I rolled my eyes and looked around as I saw Laura run off into the same direction she said she left him. Just as I was about to follow her, Harry slide in front of me grinning with that devilish smile I've seen before.
"You've got that look" He commented. I rolled my eyes once again and tried to walk past him to ignore him but it he managed to vampire speed to get ahead of me and stop me once again.
"I don't know what look you're referring to." I said giving him a fake smile.
"It was your serious face. The one that always means there's is something going on, and at my party?" He said ending in a sarcastic tone towards the end.
"Please get out of my way" I said politely.
"And let you walk out on your wolf boy over there?" He asked rhetorically sounding like the jealous ex. I looked over at Jake and smiled at him.
"You're boring me so ..." I said looking directly at Harry as I walked past him insulting him.
"Ouch" He commented as I carried on walking out of the building towards the garden, I looked around to see if I could spot her but yet again I was interrupted by Harry getting in my way.
"Why did you return to magic?" He asked leaning on a pillar watching me look around.
"Do we have to do this chit chat?" I asked crossing my arms turning around to face him. He seemed relaxed around me and away from everyone, and to be honest I wanted to have a 'chit chat' but I knew it wouldn't be for the best.
"Well it is better than me following you around to find out what your real intentions are for coming here." He responded leaning away from the pillar to stand up to take a few steps closer towards me. His presence was bringing back memories that I would rather forget but in a way now that we have broken up, it felt as if it had intensified because of it.
"My true intentions were to take a stand for the witches, they need peace Harry, surly you can understand that" I stated taking myself away from the emotion I was truly feeling.
"The witches are out of control" He commented
"That is because of the vampires" I added just as he finished his sentence starting the great debate.
"Ellie i'm not talking about this with you" He said getting defensive
"Why? Because you want to keep me safe? I'm sorry to inform you but things have changed. I need to do what's right for my people now." I said before I turned around to walk away getting a little to angry but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me to face him.
"What are you-?" I asked before we were interrupted by a familiar voice from earlier.
"Hey" Jake said coming up towards us.
"Mind your own business pal." Harry said keeping his eyes on me as I looked at Jake.
"One. I'm not your pal. And two. I think the little lady wants you to let her go." He said. I saw Harry roll his eyes as he slowly let go of me. I walked towards Jake as he offered his arm for me to link mine through. I accepted as he walked me down the steps towards the garden away from Harry's glaring.
