Chapter 17:

(Ellie's POV)

3 days before the meeting ...

"How's the book keeping you?" I asked Anna as I sat on the sofa next to her.

"It is like reading the tedious rhymes of a child, anyone could make these spells." she commented looking up from her book.

"The witch who wrote those spells was ahead of her time, they didn't have the resources and easy communication to help them out. And times have changed" I stated shocked by what she said.

"Clearly" She said closing the book and putting it on the side. I received a text from Jake giving me his address.

"Speaking of tedious things, I've got to go meet Jake to talk through a few things, will you be alright when i'm gone?" I said standing up. I walked away from Liam, Laura and Jake after the discussion we had about the situation. I had been mentoring and helping Anna to control her powers and to try and set her life up so she would feel comfortable fitting in the life of living alone. We were sat in her apartment when I got a call from Jake. I hadn't spoken to him since the discussion as it was really awkward but I knew I had to talk to him so I said I would go to his to talk about it.

"i'll be fine but do you want my opinion on this whole situation?" she asked.

"Of course" I replied looking at myself in the reflection.

"I think you two should have a baby. Or at least be together." She said as if it was nothing.  i turned around shocked by what she was saying.

"Where had this come from?" I asked crossing my arms.

"You two sound like you have chemistry" She said bringing her knees to her chest.

"How would you know? You've not seen us together." I asked wondering what she was thinking.

"I don't have to. Your face lights up when his name is mentioned." She answered.

"I'm leaving now." I stated walking towards the door putting my hands in my coat pocket heading towards the door. I decided on wearing my green draped front jacket, blue patterned cropped tank top and some dark washed blue jeans and some brown Chelsea ankle boots with my hair straight.

"Have fun. Don't get pregnant just yet" She shouted in my direction as a joke as I left the apartment. When I got this place for Anna, I decided to get her a place out of the portal, knowing how it feels to be stuck in a place that reminds you of heartbreak. I did well considering the apartment was next to the portal, so much so she could look out the window and see the portal there. I walked downstairs out of the apartment, got into my car which I recently purchased, put the address in the maps app noticing how it was at the opposite end of town like I had heard and started to drive in that direction.

Whilst I was driving, I started thinking about protecting the witches, and ensuring that I wasn't killed so my family timeline wasn't brought back from the dead. And I understood how Jake wanted to ensure that his pack was safe. Maybe coming together might not be such a bad thing. But a baby? A baby isn't something easy, it would mean me and Jake would be parents, giving up our lives in order to create another. Was I ready to do that? With Jake? Even though I'm still completely heartbroken and in love with Harry. But surely he must know if Liam knows, then again Harry is always busy at the moment so Liam telling him would stop that and Liam wouldn't want that.

God why is this so hard. I pulled up to the driveway noticing the location of his house, it was a small village and his house was plopped straight in the center of a bunch of them. I got out of the car and immediately I was being glared down at. I looked around a little intimidated by their reaction until Jake came out to reassure me.

"Hey guys. She's cool. She's one of the good ones." He said grinning at me before giving me a hug greeting me.

"Thanks." I commented still feeling the pressure of being stared at. I let go of him reluctantly, I hadn't felt this way in a while and I didn't want it to end.

"Do you want to come inside?" He asked pointing to the direction of his house. I nodded following him into his home, not even bothering to look around, I started up the conversation.

"Do you want to just a have baby?" I asked bluntly letting it all out. I waited for his reaction, expecting a quick no but when I heard what he said, I was actually pleasantly surprised.

"I'd rather marry you first." he said jokingly closing the front door and then putting his hands in his back pocket.

"I know this is forward and getting the point a bit considering everything that's going on and the fact that we only just met but I need to make sure my witches are safe. And now you're the alpha, I know you feel the same way about your pack." I explained. He was hanging onto every word I said and I could feel that chemistry that Anna was talking about.

"But for the wolves, it isn't just a simple, having a baby means being united. Bonded in fact." He explained confusing me a little.

"What do you mean?" I asked confused about what he was talking about.

"I wasn't joking about the marriage part." he stated clarifying what he meant.

"oh" I murmured.

"I think that would change your decision." He said sitting down. It does change things to be fair but now I was thinking about it, he was offering all things I wanted from Harry but never could have. And he was a nice guy too, someone I could see myself with, plus Anna said she could see some sort of chemistry. Maybe I had just made a decision.

"Not really no" I stated making him look up in my direction surprised.

"So you'd marry me?" He asked standing up.

"Is that a proposal?" I asked taking his hands in mine making him snigger.

"I know we really don't know each other and we're doing this to protect our people. But I would like to get to know you better."He said letting go of my hand and taking something from the top of his fireplace.

"And if you'd like, would you like to do that in a marriage?" He asked showing me a ring on the palm of his hand as he asked me to marry him.

"Okay." I replied making him smile as he put the ring on my finger.
