"You know, your life honestly sounds like a horror movie," Alexa said, eyes focused on the road.
"I know right!"
"But at least it's exciting. My life's a bore."
I chuckled at her.
I looked out the window. The streets were starting to look a little familiar. We were on our way to find up my car so my parents weren't suspicious. I would just say it broke down. The car's old anyway.
I changed out of my other clothes to make myself somewhat presentable. I am now wearing white lace button up tank top, a light pink skater skirt, and black vans. My hair was brushed into a ponytail, thanks to Alexa. I was also wearing large brown sunglasses and a couple of bracelets. I didn't pay attention to the fact that I was showing off most of my arms, laden with scratches, bruises and that one large band-aid.
"Don't you want to know whose life you saved though?" She inquired.
"No," I stated flatly. "I was just doing him a favor. No biggie."
"No biggie? Are you serious? You saved his fricken life!"
"Whatever," I muttered. "He helped me a few times during the fight. Doesn't that make us even?"
"Not even close."
I rolled my eyes.
"And how did you even think you were gonna try and get home without a GPS? You thought you'd magically end up home? There are criminals on every corner, Katie! It's New York! You could've gotten kidnapped or jumped. And what if the police followed you? Would you have tried to outrun them? They would've thought you were an accomplice trying to escape! You could've gotten in so much trouble! If it were me, I would've gone with the cops. You would've at least learned the boy's name. How did you leave without knowing his name? He didn't try and get yours either?! Tch! And you just fell asleep in some random lady's car? She could've.. she could've done something horrible! Why'd you give her your address? I would've gotten out of the car a few houses away so she wouldn't know where I lived! How do you even think you can hide something like this from your parents? They're gonna find out eventually! It could be on the news! They'll ask you questions until they get the truth out of you! And-"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" I snapped at her, furious. "I don't need you to tell me how much shit I have on my shoulders! Don't you think I know already? Last night, I couldn't think straight! I was tired and angry and confused and worried and anxious and irritated and edgy all at once! It was like I was intoxicated! I don't need you to fucking lecture me about all the shit that went down or what you think I should have done, alright? So just shut your damn mouth already!" I yelled at her.
When I saw how hurt she looked, all my anger quickly faded away. I just yelled at my best friend!
"I'm sorry," We both said in unison. A long silence followed.
"Really, Katie, I'm sorry," She started in a calm voice. "I shouldn't have pressed you with all my questions. It's really none of my business. You're my best friend; I should've been comforting you and telling you that everything would've been okay. I just," She hesitated. "I could've lost you."
I looked sympathetically. "No, Lexi, I'm sorry. I shouldn't of snapped at you like that. I was being harsh and totally out of control. I had no right to tell you those things, and I regret letting them slip from my mouth. You were just trying to make me realize that I can't just let this go. I wasn't thinking last night and I wasn't thinking a few minutes ago. Forgive and forget?"
"Forgive and forget," We shook on it.

"But man, she was fearless!"
"I don't care what the hell she was. She obviously set you up. Look how much trouble you ran into with the police!"
"She didn't mean it. She just probably just scared-"
"Of the cops. It's obvious she was running from them."
"Even if she was, the guy obviously died. Why would she kill her ally?"
"If I heard this correctly, you killed the guy. And she left you to be turned in to the cops."
"But she was trying to kill him just as much as I was."
"It could've all been an act! What if they're all part of an elaborate mission to take you down? I mean there's obviously more than just one guy wanting to ruin you. And what the hell were you doing wandering around the woods by yourself after your concert? That was mistake number one."
"I know, I know. I just needed to clear my head."
"You've been under a lot of stress lately. I understand that. But that doesn't mean you risk your damn life and go frolic in the woods. At night. By your fucking self. What would've happened if you got killed? Your family, your friends, your fans would all be devastated."
"You know what? Sometimes I think you care more about the money you earn from me, than me. You're worried about my fame and fortune, because you get a big fat paycheck from it. If I go down, so do you. You don't care about me at all."
"Justin that's not tr-"
"Yes it is! You know what's funny? I've known you for about four years, but you rely on what I can offer you. Yet I met this girl less than 24 hours ago. She probably knows who I am, but she solely focused on keeping me alive. Without her I would've died. She's the reason I'm here right now. She ran off without fangirling, or wanting an autograph, or even touching me. She actually kept a good distance away from me. And you know what? I owe her everything. I didn't even get the chance to thank her. You're accusing her of all these profane things, but you're missing the big picture! She saved me! My life that you care oh so deeply about," He rolled his eyes. "I don't know about you, but I need to find out who she is. She's special. I owe her a long ass lecture about how grateful I am to her for her bravery, selflessness and kind heart. The only clue I have is the car she left. And before you say anything, it wasn't the criminal's. The police found his car a little way off. This car has to be hers. She was alone. The police found out her car was broken after they checked it out. That's probably why she was in the woods in the first place," Justin ran a hand through his hair.
"Her car is in terrible condition. It's in the garage at the hotel we're staying at. Instead of fixing it, she should just get a new one. So I'm airing this live. The hunt for my mystery girl. If she's found, I get her a new car as a token of my gratitude, even though I owe her a lot more than that. She can star in my As Long As You Love Me music video, too! We still need a girl for that! And wherever she is, she can't hide forever. I'm going to find her no matter what."
"I see," Scooter said. "And what does Selena have to say about this?"
Justin froze. Seeing this, Scooter merely frowned. A tense silence followed this. Justin spoke up after a few moments.
"Sh-she should understand. I-I mean.. this girl means a lot to me because she saved my life. I obviously owe her."
Scooter stared at him. "If that's what you think. Well do whatever you want to do with this situation. It's your life. Do what you want. I'm not trying to control it as a whole, even if it seems like that. I really do care about you. You're like my little brother. I do what I can to protect you. I'm sorry if you get the wrong idea sometimes."
Justin sighed. "I'm sorry I overreacted."
"You have a tendency of doing that," Scooter smirked.
Justin shook his head in amusement. "So you're with me? Mission Find That Girl?" Justin put his hand out.
Scooter shook it. "Let's do it."
