'What on Earth could I give Justin?' I thought as I paced back and forth in my bedroom. Christmas is tomorrow. Tomorrow! I bought and wrapped presents for everyone but Justin! I tried looking for something for him at the mall, but everything seemed so insignificant because of all the amazing things he has gotten me.
"Think, Katie, think!" I hissed at myself. "Justin has to want something!"
This is impossible. I'm asking someone.
"DAD!" I stomped down the staircase. "Dad?" I walked around to find a note on the refrigerator door.
'Dear whoever this may concern,
Emergency patient at hospital. Don't know when I'll be back. Dinner in fridge.
~Dad'
"MOM!" I called.
'Dear whoever this may concern,
Out doing errands. Ask dad for dinner.
~Mom'
Whenever I need my family, they're never here. I hit my head on the wall in frustration.
"Just... one... gift.."
*Ring Ring*
I moaned and trudged to the basement, picking the phone up just in time.
"Hello?"
"Is this Katie?"
"No, it's Barney, Sherlock."
"Jeez, I was just making sure."
"Why'd you call my house phone?"
"Why not?"
I rolled my eyes.
"I know you rolled your eyes."
"Surprise surprise."
"Hey we rhymed."
"Why did you call me?"
"Well I wanted to say hey to my bestfriend, but it seems like she's PMSing. Bye."
"Wait!"
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry, Alexa," I sighed.
"It's fine. What's on your mind?"
"I don't know what to get Justin for Christmas."
"Now that's a situation I don't want to be in," she chuckled.
"Dude!"
"I'm sorry! Well, did you talk to him about it?"
"Yes. And he said he'd love whatever I got him."
"That's bullshit! He's loaded. He has everything he wants. If not, more!"
"Exactly!"
"Well did he hint at anything?"
"He said 'Your love is enough.' What could that mean?"
She thought for a second.
"Why don't you do something to show him that you love him!"
"Show?" I bit my lip.
"Not in that way. I mean don't just simply tell him you love him. Express it somehow. You do love him, right?"
"More than anything."
"Well then all you have to do is find a way to prove to him that you mean what you say."
"But how do I do that?"
"Alexa! Dinner time!" I heard on the other line.
"One minute mom! Sorry, Katie, I gotta go. Just think about it."
With that, the line went dead.
Just think about it? What the hell is that supposed to mean? I sighed loudly. I love Justin, I really do. I've been so happy with him these past few weeks. I love everything about him, from his smile to his sense of humor. It would sound so corny if I simply told him that. Or anything I really felt. I need to do something big and thoughtful, but what?
I looked around the basement until my eyes fell on one thing in particular.
Perfect.
