"Did ya miss me babe?" Jeffrey's voice rang through my ears. I could recognize it in my sleep. His sly smile along with his mischievous brown eyes and shaggy blonde hair used to set my world on fire. He looks the same way he did when we dated. Happy as hell that's over, though.
I regained my composure, crossed my arms, and put on the dirtiest look of disgust I could muster.
"Oh come on. You can't still be mad."
I closed the door lightly, not breaking my eye contact with him.
"What are you doing here?" I growled menacingly.
"Well hello to you, too," he muttered. "How have you been?"
"Peachy without you," I asserted.
"Ouch. That hurts," he placed his hand on his chest.
"That won't be the only thing that hurts if you don't get the fuck out of here," I threatened.
He seemed slightly surprised at my words and tone, but he kept his cool.
"Look. I don't want any trouble-"
"Then you shouldn't have come here."
"Would you just listen to me?" he asked impatiently.
"Hm... How about no. I have plans and I'd be pleased if you left and got hit by a bus."
"Katie."
"Jeffrey."
He was silent, so I used the opportunity to walk past him and give him a good shove on the shoulder in the process.
"Katie, I want a second chance."
This statement made me stop in my tracks.
"I apologize, for everything. Words can't describe how sorry I am and what I put you through."
"I forgive you," I breathed.
"Really?" he seemed taken aback.
"Yeah."
"Wow, thanks. I'd also like to give us another try."
I cringed. "As much as I'd hate that, I moved on and found someone else."
He seemed slightly hurt.
"Don't tell me it's that blondie I've seen hang around you," he rolled his eyes.
"Okay first off that blondie has never hurt me like you did. He treats me like a queen and he proves it every single day. He spoils me rotten and doesn't take advantage of me, unlike you did. He goes out of his way to make me happy, unlike you did. He loves me and I love him back, something we," I gestured between him and I," never had and never will."
I was on a roll, so I decided to keep going. "I know I'm not that special, but he makes me feel like I am. I am lucky to have him in my life, and I'm determined to keep it that way. Just because I forgave you for your actions doesn't mean I owe you another chance to be in my life. The least you can do is respect my boundaries."
I heard a honk to see Justin waiting for me in his car. Without turning back, I proceeded to his car.
I hopped in the passenger seat. After I buckled up, I noticed Justin glaring at Jeffrey.
"Let me know if he bothers you again, and I'll take care of it," Justin said to me, still not breaking his stare off with Jeffrey. He then rolled the windows up and drove off.
The ride was silent until Justin spoke up.
"What was he doing there?"
"He wanted me to give him another chance." Justin cringed.
