I opened my eyes slowly, adjusting to the sunlit bedroom. I looked to my right to see Justin sleeping soundly. His shiny blond hair was tousled, and his mouth was open the slightest bit as he snored softly. I couldn't help but notice his long, dark eyelashes that decorated his closed eyes, and his perfectly thick eyebrows that complimented his face. He's unfathomably attractive, even during rest.
I turned my attention to left. I raised my upper body enough to read the digital clock: 9:35 a.m. We slept in kind of late, but it's a Friday after all.
I laid back down and shut my eyes, only to snap them back open in sudden realization.
It's Friday, aka my first day of work. The store opens at 10 am! I'm going to be late!
I shot out of bed, which earned a moan from Justin, who tossed and turned in his sleep.
I grabbed a towel (finally remembered to do that) and ran into the bathroom for a shower. When I finished, I tied the towel around me and ran back to the bedroom.
When I got back to Justin's room, I searched for something to wear. Even though employees didn't have a uniform, we had a strict dress code. We had to look like what we sold, so I picked out dark blue jeans, a black tank top, white converse and a red plaid sweater with the first three buttons unbuttoned. I quickly brushed out my hair and put on some make-up. No matter how late I was, I had to look visually appealing, or I might as well not show up. I clipped on my employee ID card, accessorized with a few pieces of jewelry, and checked the time again. It was almost ten. I decided to call to let my manager, Kelly, know I was going to be a few minutes late.
"H-hello?" I spoke hesitantly into the phone.
"Hey Katie. What's up? Shouldn't you be arriving right about now?"
"I'm on my way. I had some things to take care of this morning, so I'm going to be late."
"This won't happen again, will it?" she sighed.
"No, I promise."
"Alright, I'll go easy on you because it's your first day. Get here as soon as you can."
"Thank you so much. I really appreciate it."
"No problem. See you in a few."
I sighed in relief. I packed my purse with my phone, keys, wallet (with enough money to buy lunch), extra make-up, and random little hair supplies, like bobby pins and hair bands.
Lastly, I sprayed myself will a couple of body mists to create my perfect scent.
I picked up my purse and started to head out the bedroom door when I was stopped by a sexy morning voice.
"Babe, where are you going?" Justin wiped his tired eyes.
"It's Friday. I have work today, remember?"
"Oh yeah," he pouted. "When will you be home?"
"My shift ends at six, so in like eight hours."
"I'll miss you," he sighed.
"You have a photoshoot today," I giggled. "You'll be occupied."
He walked over to me and hugged me.
"You smell like heaven," he murmured huskily into my ear, burying his head in my neck.
"Thank you," I responded earnestly, rubbing his back. "I'm late. I gotta go."
"A few more minutes," he insisted, kissing my neck.
"No!" I chuckled, pulling away from him. "I'll see you later."
