I have been working on my speech nonstop but who would have ever thought writing was easy clearly never wrote a speech in their entire life. I was having a hard time, I couldn't even focus on any other thing. I needed to finish this speech otherwise I would be having a hard time doing other things. I sighed while i leaned against my desk chair. I heard a knock on my bedroom door and the door opened. There stood little Holden. I bent down to Holden's level. "Hey little man" I greeted Holden and Holden ran up to me hugging me tightly. "Mom dropped me off" Holden told me and I just nodded. How in the world did I forget that Holden was coming over to hang out with me? I asked myself that question. "What are you working on" Holden asked me while I placed him on my desk. "I was just writing" I shrugged my shoulders. "You hungry" I asked Holden and Holden was nodding his head up and down. I just smiled at Holden. I lifted Holden up from my desk and carried him back downstairs. Holden had a smile on his face and it broke my heart because Holden looked like Cal and there was no way of denying that and it broke my heart because Cal would still be in the ICU when it time to graduate high school. "Is my daddy going to wake up Mikey" Holden asked me with those adoring eyes that tug my heartstrings. "I hope so Holden" I told him that because i couldn't know for sure if Cal was going to wake up but I prayed and prayed that Cal would fight for his life and not be a vegetable. "I miss him so does Mommy" Holden was closed to tears and I sighed while looking down at the floor. "I miss him too Holden. I really do love your father" I confessed to Holden and Holden just nodded his head. "I bet he misses us too" Holden was holding a smile on his face but the tears were down his cheeks and I couldn't help it but let the tears stream down my face. Holden wrapped his arms around me. Holden was trying to comfort me and I was trying to comfort Cal's kid. If only you could see me now Cal, taking care of your kid while you fighting for your life. I thought to myself and I shook my head. "Do you want some Mac n cheese" I asked Holden while our tears dried on our faces. Holden was back to smiling hugely at me while nodding his head back and forth. I couldn't see how Holden was able to be positive but he must have gotten that from Cal. I started making the pasta and I put the TV on so that Holden could watch some cartoons. I heard the front door opened and there stood my dad with a grin on his face. I could hear him greeting Holden and he spun Holden around. i smiled to myself. My dad was really something.  "Hey dad" I greeted my dad and dad just smiled at me. "Hey Mike, how's that speech going" Dad asked me while he took over making Mac n-cheese which I was glad because the last time i made mac n-cheese let's just say that I may have burned the mac- n-cheese. "Don't even talk about it, I have until tomorrow till I have to show this speech to the principal this speech so he can approve it and I am freaking out" I ranted on and on to my dad and Dad just rolled his eyes at me. "Just write about how high school taught you and how it feels to move on from your life" Dad suggested to me and my eyes went wide and a smile came on my face. "Thanks dad can you watch Holden for a bit" I asked dad and Dad just nodded at me and I rushed upstairs to my room and I started typing up whatever came to my head about my experiences at high school, what I learned in high school. After twenty minutes, I finally had my speech done and I felt a sense of pride inside of my head. Graduation was just strangely in a couple days and I was proud of the fact that I was valedictorian. I bet my parents are also proud of me. I rushed downstairs and showed my dad my speech and dad read the speech in amazement. "Wow, Mike you are actually pretty good at writing" Dad commented to me. "I must have gotten the talent from mom" I crossed my arms with a joking matter and little Holden was just eating his mac-n-cheese. It was just an hour sitting there watching TV with Holden and Holden's mom finally came to pick up Holden and now she looked so much better. It might had something to do with her constantly visiting Cal or maybe because Holden was so much happier. My phone was ringing and I picked it up without looking at the caller ID. "Hey" Ash voice was on the other line. "What's up Ash" I asked him and Ash just sighed. "Me and my dad actually on civilized term" Ash told me and I was happy for him. "I finished my speech" I told Ash and Ash was sighing. "What's wrong" I asked Ash. "That's great, the principal wants me to give a salutatorian speech" Ash told me and I could tell he was pacing back and forth. I couldn't see why Ash was worried about or the fact that Ash didn't want to give the speech. "So what, that's great Ash" I told Ash. "I don't do speeches, or presentations" Ash confessed to me. "Plus Luke was supposed to give the speech not me" Ash sighed out loud to me. "You could use Luke's speech and say that it's Luke's" I suggested to Ash and Ash just sighed. "That's such a great idea" Ash told me before hanging up the phone without saying bye to me. How rude.
