On Thursday it was announced that gravitational waves have been detected for the first time. Two black holes, which had been orbiting a common centre of gravity, merged and became one larger black hole. The collision sent shockwaves in all directions. This occurred 1.3 billion years ago, and tiny ripples arrived on Earth on 14th Sept 2015 just as LIGO, an 'L' shaped detector, was switched on. Prof. Sheila Rowan of Glasgow University said, "It was as if the Universe was saying hello."

Two massive bodies - each violently pulling against the other for material, finally came together to form one body. The struggle was over.

Meanwhile, all nations on Earth, orbiting a common centre of gravity, continue to pull on one another for material (resources).

Maybe the Universe is saying more than just "hello".

In this Week's blog post I will give a direct comparison between two global systems:-

a) the present day World: where individuals, groups and nations compete against one another for resources;

b) the World that could be: where all the people have come together to facilitate total global cooperation for the purpose of improving the lives of everyone.

The following list is not exhaustive and the text is not thoroughly researched so may contain some errors. However, I hope you will see the bigger picture: that everyone's life as part of a cooperative World will be much more pleasant than what is the case in today's competitive World.

GOVERNMENT

COMPETITIVE WORLD

Comprises human officials. Demonstrably not up to the challenge of caring for everyone.

COOPERATIVE WORLD

A central computer, with sensors across the globe. Perfectly manages production and distribution of resources.

FOOD

COMPETITIVE WORLD

Starvation in some countries. Over-eating and unhealthy diets widespread.

COOPERATIVE WORLD

A healthy diet automatically delivered to every person. Healthy food available from outdoor machines e.g. for picnics.
