17|| I finally did better than someone

~Calum~

It's finally Friday and I'm honestly so thankful. I don't think in could've lasted another day in the torture.

The whole class was talking, shouting I laughing while Mrs Collins stood helplessly trying to get our attention at the front of the class.

The bell eventually rang for first period and everyone was immediately out of their chairs, heading towards the door.

Mrs Collins just gave up and held the door open for everyone, smiling all the while.

As I entered the hall I heard some annoying people singing, "It's Friday, Friday. Gotta get down on Friday."

I can't go by a single Friday without hearing that.

Up ahead I manage to see someone shove Stephanie as Stephanie shoved her back.

They carried on walking like nothing had happened.

I swear Stephanie has violent friends.

My mind thought back to Australia. The warmth, some of my friends and the scenery.

How I miss Australia. How I miss her.

Her laugh, her smile, her eyes.

But now when I think back to those moments they all seem fake; so so so fake.

All my friends warned me but I didn't listen.

I guess this is the price I pay for not listening.

But if this is the price -getting to meet Stephanie- then I'm also glad that happened.

Wait woah. I did not just think that.

"Cal," someone said, causing me to glance up at them.

"Hey Luke," I greeted my best friend.

"Are you gonna go into class or are you just gonna stand outside the door the whole day?" Luke asks me, his arms gesturing to maths class.

I roll my eyes at him and enter class, Luke following right behind me.

Our teacher instantly eyed us when we entered class.

"Luke Hemmings?" Our math teacher asks, her eyes looking at Luke.

"Yes, madam?" Luke asks. I could hear how scared he sounds right now.

"You're moving up to set 1," she states. "It's room 91, just up the hall."

I bet he aced the last test.

He nods his head at the teacher and sends me one last smile before walking out the door and down the hall.

Now I'm in set 2 and Luke's in set 1.

Sadly, not everyone can be as smart as Luke in maths.

Stephanie walks in only a few seconds after Luke walked in and before I could talk to her, the teacher gives her the same look she gave Luke.

"Stephanie McCall?" The teacher asks in a bland voice.

Stephanie looks at her to show she was listening.

"You're moving up to set 1, room 91." The teacher gave her a small smile as Stephanie left.

Wow, suddenly everyone is smarter than me.

I also remember her telling me that she did shit. Damn her.

Once I'm sat in my seat, all my things unpacked, I wait for the teacher to start.

"Good morning class," the teacher says. "Today we'll be doing algebra."

Once class ended I headed over towards Megan and asked her what she was gonna ask me.

She just waved it off and told me she had forgotten.

I reply with a nod and walk towards Michael who was still in set 2 with me. At least Michael hasn't left me.

Sadly Ashton isn't in any of my classes because he's on the French side of school and we're on the German side.

"What did you get in the test?" I ask Michael.

"22 out of 30. You?"

I cheer. "23. Woooo I finally did better than someone."

I start doing a celebratory dance in the small space I have in the small halls.

"It was one mark," Michael chuckles.

"But I finally did better than someone," I repeat, still dancing like an idiot.

Michael just shakes his head at me, laughing as he mumbled a bye and walked away.

I stopped dancing and walk towards Stephanie who was getting her PE kit out of her locker.

"I thought you said you did shit on that test?" I question her, leaning against the row of lockers beside hers.

She shrugs. "Apparently not."

"Stephanieeeeeeeee!" someone drags out loudly in a high-pitched voice.

I wince at the sound.

I hear Stephanie laugh to herself before shouting out. "Shayn Shaynnnnnnnnnn!"

She looks up at me as I give her a confused look, only to receive a shrug in reply.

A girl with dark brown hair and brown eyes suddenly appeared next to me.

I honestly had a mini heart attack.

The other girl doesn't notice but Steph does as she quietly sniggers.

"What happened between you and Leigh?" The girl asks her and Steph's laughter immediately dies down at the mention of Leigh's name.

She's still smiling but I can see the light in her eyes dim, making me wonder who this Leigh is.

Stephanie sighs. "She just started ignoring me."

"But she said you were ignoring her first," the other girl says, clearly confused.

"Well I wasn't," Stephanie says, getting her teeth. "She ditched me after school and completely ignored me on Friday and Sunday and the rest of the days till today. She only acknowledges me when she pushes me." Stephanie mumbled the last bit.

All I wanted to do right now was just wrap Stephanie up in my arms and hug her, never letting go.

I could tell this situation's hurting her but she doesn't want anyone to see how much it actually hurts.

"She said she hates you. She thinks you're a bitch," the girl continues as if Stephanie didn't just tell her everything.

"I honestly don't care," Stephanie says, shrugging. "I'm not gonna say anything about her 'cause I'm not that type of person who talks about people behind their backs."

"I have to go to English," the other girl declares, waving a bye to Stephanie.

Stephanie smiles and waves back, closing her locker.

Our eyes meet and I could see the sadness in them.

I spoke up.

"Ummm what was that?"
