19|| You really love him, don't you?
~Luke~
What was taking Stephanie forever?
I decided to walk into matron's office after waiting outside for 5 more minutes.
When I didn't see Steph I look behind the big desk right next to the door and see no one.
Where did everyone go?
"How can I help you?" Someone asks as I turn around and try to find the source of the voice.
A head pops up from behind the desk and I see a lady who was probably in her late 40's.
"Have you seen a girl with dark hair- almost black- and brown eyes in here?" I ask the lady.
"Well, there's only about 2,000 people in this school," the lady behind the desk states. "You'll have to be more specific than that."
"Ummm," my sentence trails off as I try to think of something specific about Stephanie.
"She has a light blue bag and... ummm..." I keep trying to think.
Why did she come in here in the first place?
"She came in here a few minutes ago asking for a music letter?" I tell- almost like ask- matron.
Recognition lit up on matron's face as she nodded her head and pointed to a plain white door.
Once I got to the door I heard muffled crying but that didn't sound like Stephanie.
That cry sounded more familiar than Stephanie.
"Calum?" I ask instantly when I recognised the crying.
My eyes land on Calum wrapped in Stephanie's arms while she tries to comfort him.
Calum looks up at me with red eyes, tears streaming down his face while he sniffs.
"Oh my god," I whisper. "Calum," I say, getting involved in the hug.
"What's wrong?" I ask no one in particular, not caring if it was Calum or Stephanie who answered me.
Calum continued to sob while I look over to Steph, giving her a quizzical look. She only returned my look with an even more confused one.
Stephanie untangles herself from our arms and heads towards the door. "I'll give you to a minute," she says before closing the door, leaving me and Calum.
"Cal," I whisper, "what's wrong?"
Calum pulls away from our hug and looks at me, trying to calm himself down.
Once he contained himself he looked at me dead in the eyes, taking deep breaths.
"Shes back," he tells me.
I laugh without humour. "You've got to be kidding."
"Does it look like I'm kidding?" Calum says, his sadness quickly disappearing and turning into anger.
"Oh, and my mum says she's staying at my house," he continues.
"You can stay around my house for a bit," I suggest.
Cal shook his head at me. "No, my mum will expect me to stay with you and she'll drag me back to my house."
"If she finds out your not with me then she'll assume you're with Mike or Ash," I say, trying to think of somewhere he could stay.
"You can stay at Charlie's?" I suggest.
Calum instantly nods at me. "But I don't know how long she's gonna stay for."
"How about stay at Charlie's house for a few days then stay at Steph's for a few days, then keep switching between the two?"
Calum looks up with with those dark brown eyes of his.
"Yeah, that could work," he says, nodding.
"You'll be alright," I say suddenly, enveloping him in a bear hug, squeezing him tightly.
I was never good at comforting people so I usually just hugged them.

"Charlie," I pant, hands on my knees as I tried to catch my breath.
He turned around and looks down at my tired state.
"Ummm hey Luke," he greets me.
I hold up a finger at him, telling him to wait a second while I tried to catch my breath.
I basically chased him through the whole fucking school. Through the windy halls and the masses of students.
After my breath steadied I immediately asked Charlie, "Can Calum stay at your house for a few days?"
"Yeah, sure," Charlie answers without hesitation and without asking why.
I sigh in relief. "You're the best."
He grins widely. "I know."
I roll my eyes at him before walking away.

I see Stephanie by the playground, surrounded by her friends. I indefinitely go up to her and ask her the same question I asked Charlie.
"Fine by me," she replies after a moment of thinking.
"Where is he anyways?" Steph asks me.
"Oh, he's skipping the rest of school," I tell her.
"Okay," she nods. "Is he gonna come around this week?"
I shake my head. "Next week."
"Okay."
"I'm worried," I mumbled.
"Why?" She asks, putting her hand on my shoulder.
"He's never been able to think straight when it came to this subject," I tell her, looking down at my shoes.
"You really love him, don't you?"
"No I don't. Calum's a fucking idiot. How can someone like me love someone like him?"
Stephanie punches my arm.
