35|| You're back

~Calum~

"Your story better be good," Luke threatens me, "or else you better get out of this house as fast as possibly fucking can."

I gulp but kept the scared expression on my face.

Oh, these idiots better be prepared to listen.

*two hours earlier*

"Come on, Cal," Megan begs, "for me, please."

I sigh in frustration, running my hands down my face.

"Please," she begs again with so much hope in her eyes.

"Okay," I give in, "fine."

Megan shrieks, running up to me and wrapping her arms around my neck.

I wrap my arms around her small waist, hugging her back as she whispers thank you's in my ear.

No matter how much I loved this, it felt wrong. It felt so wrong and I don't know why.

"So you'll trick them into thinking you're on their side again?" Megan asks, trying to confirm our plan.

"Yes," I confirm and her smile is so large it warms my heart.

*present time*

"I asked her why Stephanie would lie," I tell them, "and she just stayed silent. I saw the resentment on her face, and I saw the anger, but the anger wasn't towards me. I-I think it was towards you. Yes, you, Steph."

I see Stephanie flinch at my nickname for her. I guess she doesn't believe me yet.

Okay, I need to try harder.

"I-I th-think she snapped. She started yelling at me and started threatening to kill me," I whisper, the lies just coming out.

"So I just got up and left, then decided to come here and talk to you... to say I'm so so sorry for not trusting and believing you."

I put on the most sincere face I could muster as Luke and Stephanie nod.

"Steph," Luke says warily, "can I talk to you real quick?"

He looks over at me. "Alone."

I nod, getting up and heading out of the living room, shutting the wooden door behind me.

I try listening into their conversation but their voices were muffled by the door.

Sighing, I head upstairs into the guest room.

Instead of being met by the familiar blank walls and empty shelves, I'm met with light green walls, shelves filled books, a desk by the corner of the room and the walls filled with photos and posters.

There was a phtoto of me, Luke, Michael and Ashton all on the floor playing halo back in Australia, balloons and food surrounding us.

I remember that day; it was Michael's birthday. I smile at the memory.

I keep looking at the pictures and my eyes finally land on one that definitely catches my eye.
