For some reason I was sure that our new home wouldn't be as good as our old one was sure I would hated by the time I laid eyes on it, or at least I wish I hated it. Well I'm so wrong and I can't even hide it. The house is amazing. It has a little yard with fence and garage, it looks like a cabin but not small at all. It has two floors; it is painted white with blue windows and black roof. Somehow it's so familiar but also so new and mysterious. I don't pay attention to any other houses nearby. I'm focused on my new home and I'm so excited that I can't help myself from running towards it.
When our stuff are carried inside me and my family looks around the house with confidence. The first thing that catches my eye is the soft, warm yellow color of the walls which, despite the fact that there is nothing tidy, gives a warm ,welcoming feeling inside me. The strong smell of cleaning products is also very comforting. The hall is small but the living room is huge. The fireplace is on the right corner next a big window. I can already imagine amazing nights around it, me and my parents have always wanted a fireplace, but it would be useless in the climate of Greece.
The kitchen is also very tasteful. It's big and has a big table in the middle without chairs around it yet. It has light blue color but the draws are dark brown giving a nice contrast in the medium size room. I take a quick look to see that is also perfectly clean. I sit on the table to catch my breath and thoughts. Just to process the fact that I will be eating here from now on. Suddenly I hear my mom shouting << anyone want to see their bedroom?>> My feet are on fire while I'm trying to get upstairs as quickly as possible, I can hear my dad talking so I'm heading to that direction. The corridor is big offering me enough privacy. Finally.
The walls are painted in a blue-green warm color, and the window is big with view on the house on the other side of the road. It has no furniture except a mattress with some sheets, my bed for tonight. It's bright and independent I love it already. My excitement defeats my exhaust in no time. I'm running all over the house checking the bathroom, the extra room, my parent's bedroom, I'm thinking about how awesome it will look with our staff in it. My dad really made a good choice with the house.
My parents are pretty excited too, they are also walking around disgusting about where the furniture will go, with what we will need to decorate except our staff, the colors that they want to change. We find ourselves sitting on the floor next to the fireplace talking about our plans and thoughts on the house. We schedule a busy day full of furniture going into place and unpacking and the very next day shopping in the nearest town with a furnish store. The minutes are passing and passing and my eyes are becoming heavier and heavier, but it's our house we are talking about, sleep can wait! The wind is blowing softly outside and the only thing breaking the silence is our excited voices. We are so amazed with the things that need to be done that we don't even realize 2 hours have passed.
My dad yawns loudly and soon enough we are all doing the same. We are heading to our rooms to take some rest. I feel my legs impossible to move as i walk up the stairs open the door of my room and starting taking my clothes off. I wear only underwear when I see myself in the glass of the window. Satisfied of my healthy and athletic body I put a long t-shirt on. As I'm falling on the soft mattress my mind is clear. I feel calm, no memories no feelings, just pure desire for a trip to dreamland.
When I wake up the sun is shining. I'm rubbing my red eyes hard and stand on my feet unable to tell for how long I had been sleeping. I stand in front of the window starring at the house that is right across ours. For the first time I realize it has a leaning.....little cedar tree on its side? Why would someone do that? Please tell me i don't live across a weirdo who has full view of my bedroom through my window.
Heading to the kitchen smell of fresh breakfast hits me. My dad had got up earlier and brought it because we hadn't bought anything eatable due to our exhaust yesterday. And apparently we are going to need our strength to put things into place around here. So I'm sitting on the nearest chair and attacking the food. I feel a happy tense in the air, smiles and jokes running all over the place. I'm glad my mom doesn't seem sad anymore like that she is joking and moving around tidying thing the place while eating, she is her old energetic, smiling self. My dad is no different, he is searching on a map the nearest shop to buy groceries and he is clearly into that.
When we finish our breakfast my mom and dad leave to buy food and other needed goods so I'm starting unpacking on my own. First things first I put every box on the room its content belongs. I thought it would be an easy job but I'm wrong again. The boxes are heave so I'm sweaty and me legs are burning in no time. Although I like it, it keeps my mind of things and the burn on my limps is almost pleasant. As I push a heavy box into my room I feel someone staring at me. I look behind but I see nothing. Then a thought strikes me and I freeze in my position. The window has no curtains, it has no fucking curtains and I was casually walking around in my underwear and now I was dancing and acting like an idiot without even thinking about it. And now someone is watching can feel it in my spine.
The doorbell rang, and I had a feeling that my parents hadn't return.
