Ride

My dad was driving the fast vehicle after a long time again and he was too excited. The road was almost empty so he wasn't holding back, zig zagging and slamming the brakes making me hold tighter from his waist. He was never so careless while driving, this thing made him a teen again and I couldn't be happier for him. He was indeed a little anxious lately and this ride really seemed to bring a toothy smile on his face.

I did a very good job, almost no mistakes and be pretty good at the theoretical part too. After two days my license was ready. In these three days I hadn't seen Rhett even once, I was walking in the town and jogging in the woods near the river but I bumped into him zero times. But today, after taking my motorbike officially, I will offer him a ride to apologize.

I was waiting in the living room with my face almost smacked against the window for my dad to come home after work with my license and hand me the keys. My mum was already here cooking but I hadn't the courage to help her. I have been waiting very much for this moment. After a few more torturing minutes I saw my dad's car and I immediately head outside. He had barely got out of the car when I was in front of him with my hand extended. He handed me the keys and the license to receive a hug and a kiss.

-Don't wait me for lunch or dinner.

He nodded and got inside smiling. While I was about to jump on my new vehicle I remembered Rhett and moved towards his house. Wearing a black t-shirt and jeans I was much more appropriate from the last time I was here. I knocked slightly on the door and then waited. Cole opened.

-Oh hello, I didn't expect to see you.

-Sorry for the uninvited visit, is Rhett here?

He gave me an investigating look before answering.

-No, he will be at Link's for a week.

-Oh....i got it. Okay thanks.

Cole wasn't willing to close the door but I couldn't come up with something to talk to now, I was rather disappointed and I felt my excitement slowly drain from my system. Why did he have to go to Link's? And I don't even know where his house is.

-Whose beast is that?

Cole snapped me out of my thoughts pointing at my new motorbike.

-It's mine; I got my drive license today.

-It's awesome, did you test it?

-Not yet.

-What are you waiting for? If I had a thing like this I would never got down of the saddle.

He seems pretty excited, well why not? I don't want to be alone. When Nick and Nicholas got their first cars we had to fit seven people in there, very noisy and fun rides to be honest, why shouldn't I do the same? It's a good opportunity to learn more about Cole.

-Do you want to join me?

- Do you even question it? Wait a minute to grab my shoes.

He is ready in almost no time, wearing jeans and a blue t-shirt. I jump on the bicycle and he joins me, holding my waist gently.

-No helmets yet?

-Not yet.

I smile and start the engine. Cole is grabbing closer and tighter from my sides because of the sudden speed. I drive outside of town, where there is not traffic and the roads are long and spacious. As we leave the town behind us the adrenaline is taking over my body, my mind flows away living me with my sensations only. The wind messing my hair, Coles hands applying heat on my waist, the speed almost blinding me and the force of the vehicle making my hands trembling on the handlers. But it feels so good, like pure freedom, I feel my heart being set free from everything that was holding it behind.

When I realized I had gone too far I slowed down and turned heading back home. It was already late in the evening.

-Wow that was awesome. The speed, the air it was such a perfect ride. You will be a good driver.

-Thanks Cole.

The way back wasn't that fun but it was delightful. The sunset was painting everything red and orange and i felt like being home again, it wasn't weird seeing the sunset with Cole and not with the hot five. Maybe i was getting used to my new life.

I pulled over Cole's house and waited for him to get down.

-Thanks for the ride, it was amazing. Especially when around sunset.

-No problem, I had a good time too.

-May I return the favor tomorrow?

-Of course why not.

-Around 6 is alright?

-Yep.

-Okay it's settled then. Tomorrow at 6 p.m.

I enter the house, my parents are in the living room talking so i try to make no noise in order not to disturb them but i tripped over the carpet.

-Maritina, are you home?

-Yeah I'm back.

-How was the ride?

-Amazing, it was absolutely incredible, the motorbike is everything. I love it.

-I'm glad you like it, it was with me for many years, but I guess it's on good hands now.

-Don't worry about it; I will take care of it like it was my child.

-You went with Cole didn't you?

-Yes, what's with that?

-Nothing, I'm just happy you finally started meeting peers.

-I'm too; Rhett and Cole are very cool guys. Link also.

With no warning my dad moves towards me and lifts me in his arms. I find myself in the air kicking and giggling, he puts me down quickly than usual and massage his lower back a little.

-I'm getting old really quick, you should find someone else picking you up.

-You will always be my only one daddy.

He kisses my forehead gives me a side hug and opens his arms inviting my mum in too. He covers both of us and tights his embrace.

-You are my everything. Both of you, I'm so glad you came with me here, that you cope so well. I am the luckiest man in the world.

I leave gently from his hug and leave my mum on his embrace, he starts swaying her softly. I go in my room. I wish someone loved me that way. I look over to Rhett's house and sigh; I have to talk to him.
