Staring again

As we were standing there, his head on my belly and my hands playing with his chocolate brown hair I felt a little guilty but finally actually calm and touched at the same time. I was sorry about Rhett but I couldn't deny the sense of protection and comfort Nicholas offered me in seconds. That's what I love about him, the way he lightens up every corner of my mind and soul. I heard the door opening and steps, my parents were home. He didn't move and it was impossible for me to make him when he had his head and arms on me, I didn't even try. My mum stepped in and then he got off me heading towards her, with his eyes sleepy but his muscles tensed.

-Hello Ms Kollins

-Nicholas, you are here. Welcome, I didn't expect you to be here so early, I was a bit surprised by your mum's call.

-I know, I'm sorry if I was a discomfort, but when Maria told me that Maritina was hurt, I got a bit worried.

-Don't be silly Nicholas, you are not a discomfort, and you know we like to have you around. It's so sweet that you insisted on coming due to Maritina's accident, we appreciate that.

-Downstairs, he brings in the groceries, do you want to go and have a word with him? He would be delightful.

-Yes now that he is here I'm better. I had missed him so much.

-I know, I know, it's okay, he traveled all this miles for you. His mother told me that he died of worry when he heard about you couldn't help by letting him stay with us, your dad was not so willing though.

-I can't say that I am surprised by that

-Did Rhett come over?

-Yeah why wouldn't he?

-I told him yesterday that you might have a visit from a friend early in the morning and that he might didn't need to drop by. Anyway, I have to go downstairs to check if Nicholas is safe.

I felt a little pinch in my heart. He knew someone would be here, but he passed by anyway, probably because he had promised to play the guitar for me. I shake the thought away. I couldn't help myself from looking out of the window to his house for a little, of course I didn't see anything but I wasn't able to stop starring either. Only when the door opened and Nicholas came in I took my eyes off the same window I had heard him and his brother talking a few days ago.

-Honey, are you okay, what were you looking at?

-Nothing I was a bit distracted that's all.

-How could you be distracted if I'm not in around? I am still the one who makes you lose your mind, aren't I?

-You are such a dork you know that? Your ego level must be lost somewhere in the Alps

-That's why you love me.

He leaned in for a kiss.

-Did you have any problems with your leg today?

He winks at me playfully.

-No you were very gentle, not your style really.

-I know, that's because I was holding back. You don't know how much I want you to get rid of that thing.

He points at the bandage around my ankle. Suddenly my mum's voice reached our ears

-The food is ready!

-Your mum is so quick when it comes to cooking, how did she manage to prepare dinner in so little time?

- I don't know she must have a secret power or something. Go and bring it here, I'm too tired to eat in the table.
