After that night me and Rhett we acted like we were on a honey moon. Long walks, rides, swimming. We saw each other every day and did our best to have sex every night. It was difficult though, we both got summer jobs. He was basically going under houses and cleaning the foundations (I never asked for details, I was already terrified) and I was a waitress on the local coffee shop since it was busier during the summer holidays. We had been together for eight months now.
We are next to a cliff, my motorbike a few feet away and he is holding me tight next to him.
-You know, there is a church trip in a few days and I thought that, if you are interested, we can go together.
-Sorry Rhett, but no.
-Oh Come on, it will be fun.
-Rhett please. I don't care if you believe in God or not, you can go to church every Sunday; go on every trip, praying or anything else you do. But try to convince me into join you. I'm not like that.
-Why do you have to be so stubborn all the time?
-I'm not stubborn. I just have some ideas and beliefs which you need to respect.
-Of course ma'am.
He rolls his eyes and stands up.
-Where are you going?
-Home.
-By feet?
-Yes.
"Okay Rhett, fuck Jesus tonight, because you aren't fucking me" I hop on the saddle and speed down the road living dust and smoke behind me. "Why does he have to be such an asshole?"
Two days later Rhett and Link are gone to the trip. I'm lying in my bed sketching a night sky and thinking about Rhett. "Okay maybe I was too harsh on him, but...» I exhale deeply and throw the sketchbook on the floor. "Where the fucks are they?" Suddenly I see Cole getting in the house but Rhett's not with him. I call him out from the window and run outside.
-Bro.
I jump and wrap my arms around his neck.
-How are you doing?
-Fine Maritina, thanks.
-What's going on?
-Nothing.
-Cole...
He seems really upset and kind of sad. I take a step back and point at the ground.
-Sit.
He does and I sit next to him.
-What's going on?
-Rhett was flirting with Holly today.
-You are kidding me.
-No. I heard him.
-What did he say?
-Stupid teenage boy stuff.
-Especially?
-I heard him saying with confidence that they will be together.
I feel tears watering my eyes and i pull my knees to my chest.
-Maritina...look.
-Look what Cole? I fucking opened myself for once and....damn it. I'm so stupid, so stupid.
I stand up and run back to my house and search for my keys. Cole is behindme trying to calm me down but I don't even listen. Once I have found them ihead to the garage and hop on the saddle. Cole stands in front of themotorbike.
