Is getting better

After Rhett turned sixteen and got his license Cole gave him the Omega, a very classy looking car in my opinion. Rhett was really excited that he was able to drive and had his own vehicle now as well, so he spend a lot of his time on the road with us, but especially with Link, who hadn't turned sixteen yet. One day I and Cole decided to drive our way to Coats because I hadn't been there still and according to him, this was the nearest source for things that Buies Creek hadn't. That day Rhett would drive Link to the video store of Coats too. We had planned to go together but I had to stay at school with Jamie for a little while, so by the time I came back home they had already left. Only Cole waited me sitting on his doorstep.

-Hello there, did you find your way back?

-I'm sorry, I lost track of time. Rhett and Link left, didn't they?

-Yeah, but we might catch them if we start now.

-Okay jump on then.

I turned the motorbike and started the engine when he was on too. We had been driving for a several minutes and we had reached the big dip of Capitol Hill. I was about to speed so we would enjoy the steep descent distance to Parliament Hill when i heard the typical sound of Cole's car.

-That's the Omega, right?

-Yeah it has to be it.

I tried to spot it but I could only hear it so far.

-There, it has to be them.

I looked at the direction of his hand to see an Oldsmobile Omega is on the passing lane on top of the heel making a ridiculously loud noise as it's trying to pass a the car next to it. The noise stops for a second but the cars as still even. Then the sound started again. I am slowing down worried that something is wrong. Why haven't they passed that guy already, is something wrong with the car? After their third try I pull over not knowing what else to do. The car sounds like it is going to explode and neither me nor Cole know how to react. I'm about to turn and get behind them, they are on the bottom of the hill and are starting to approach the top of it. Suddenly I see an eighteen wheeler and my heart skirts in my chest.

-Why hasn't he back off yet?

Cole says and tightens his grip. I feel his tense too. The big vehicle horns at them and Rhett backs off and gets behind the car he was trying to pass all this time. I get next to his car and tell them to stop on the side of the road for a little.

-What the fuck was that?

-I don't know

Rhett said disappointed.

-It just wasn't increasing its speed at all.

-You scared me for a bit there, is something wrong with the car?

-No, it hasn't strong engine, it sounds like this when I'm trying to increase speed.

-So are you guys going to head back?

Cole asked.

-Yeah, we got the tape.

-Okay see you later.

We continued our little trip, but I was still thinking about what happened. Rhett was very disappointed; I don't think his car will stay for him for a long time.

If only I knew how right I was. After a few days, Rhett run into me after High school and said:

-Hey, can I ask for a favor?

-Of course, what is it?

-I want to kill the Omega.
