Sidemen Family Shorts

This is going to be a bunch of small fics. Like... One Third shots instead of oneshots... But there will be many of them.

Family Dinner

As laid back and casual as the Sidemen family were, one tradition that they would never break was family dinners. Tonight, of course, was no exception.

"Harry! Give that back!" Simon yelled, chasing the small boy who had stolen his xbox controller. Harry merely grinned and stuck his tongue out, dodging a couch and darting gleefully through the living room. Simon groaned playfully and advanced at his younger brother.

"Got him!" A voice called. Vik had managed to slide under a table and snag the controller from under Harry's nose.

"Nice one Vik!" Simon yelled. Harry let out a confused grunt as the smallest sideman dashed around the couch, only to run straight into Ethan. The older easily picked Vik up and flung him over a shoulder, laughing.

"Ethaaann!" Vik groaned, squirming as Harry ran forth to pry the game controller from his tiny hands. His groans changed to screams of "Go Simon!" As his older brother tackled Harry, wresting the controller once again from his grasp. The youngest four's game was interrupted by a call from the kitchen.

"Dinner!" Josh called. The four couldn't run to the kitchen fast enough to see what their older brother and father had prepared (Idk why but I keep wanting to write that JJ is their mother XD like... He's such a single mom that it feels weird writing father) They entered the room just as Tobi emerged from the staircase, having been doing homework upstairs. The table was set with an assortment of taco components, and the children eagerly took their seats as Josh and JJ removed the homemade taco shells from the oven, carefully placing one on every plate before sitting down.

Josh and Tobi helped Vik and Harry fill their tacos as the family began a lighthearted conversation.

"Simon, how did you do on your geography test today?" Asked JJ. Simon responded through a mouthful of taco that he had done "pretty well" and the conversation was back to joking laughter and smiles. Any neighbor walking by would be able to hear the sounds of the happiest family in the neighborhood, enjoying their dinner as always. Though JJ was stressed from working, Josh and Tobi had finals coming up, Simon bombed his geography test and Ethan had just been rejected by his crush, and Vik hadn't been able to sleep, so he had crawled into Harry's bed, waking his brother up so they could cuddle, but forfeiting any chance either of them had of sleeping, at dinner, they were merely a family where love was incorporated in every aspect of life, and nothing was done without laughter and happiness.

Josh's Girlfriend

Josh told Tobi first as always, his closest brother being his confidant for nearly everything. Tobi was surprised at first, as it wasn't often that his older brother had time for relationships, with five younger siblings, schoolwork, and college applications, but he had somehow gotten himself a girlfriend, and the look in Josh's eyes as he described her made Tobi more than happy for his brother.

He told JJ next, a bashful look on his face as he explained that he really was in love. JJ couldn't help but smile at his son's expression, hugging Josh tightly and congratulating him.

When he told Simon and Ethan, his confession was inevitably followed by comments of "get some!" And "is she hot?" But after the initial smug statements died down, both brothers bro-hugged Josh, smiling.

Last of all, Josh sat down with Vik and Harry. Their eyes widened at his words. Josh had a girlfriend! Josh smiled nervously at the dropped jaws and wide eyes, but his smile was met by Vik looking to he floor and refusing to meet his eyes, and Harry bursting into tears. Josh rushed to comfort the two, wrapping an arm around each of them.

"What's wrong?" He asked, pressing his lips to Harry's forehead calmingly. Vik spoke between sobs and hiccups. "Does- does this mean you won't be around anymore? You can't have a girlfriend! You have to play with us, and help us when we're sad, and- and" his voice was cut off by a slew of tears and heavy breaths. Josh couldn't help but grin lovingly at the two, as he pulled them in closer and spoke into their hair.

"I will always be here for you."

Scenic

The day was soggy, humidity plaguing the air with its heavy breaths of solidity. The clouds were almost begging to cry, darker than the horizon, and crawling across the black sky. The family had decided to stay in, naturally.

Ethan was sitting on the couch with his arm around Simon, who was leaning on his shoulder. Ethan's free hand was holding an iPad that the two were watching YouTube on. Simon's arms were wrapped around Vik, who had made himself comfortable draped across the two, his head against Simon's chest, and his legs over one of Ethan's.

JJ was on an armchair with a magazine, and Harry had decided to fall asleep upside down, his head on JJ's lap and his left leg over his father's right shoulder, his other leg dangling off the chair. Josh was leaning over the back of the chair, pointing at something in the magazine, JJ's head tilted slightly upwards to see him.

The door to the kitchen opened and Tobi walked in, balancing five bowls of popcorn and a multitude of blankets. Josh quickly raced to his side to lighten his load, grabbing the blankets and a bowl of popcorn, which he gave to JJ. Tobi distributed two popcorn bowls to Simon and Ethan, and placed the other two on the empty third couch for himself and Josh. The eldest brother, meanwhile, laid a blanket over Simon, Ethan and Vik, who smiled up at him gratefully, and a second he handed to JJ, before joining Tobi on the couch. Josh leaned back, taking a bite of his popcorn, and Tobi hugged his knees to his chest, holding the popcorn bowl close to his chest.

There was an almost fuzzy atmosphere in the room, everyone laying content. Simon fed popcorn to Vik, Ethan laughed quietly at the video they were watching. JJ had fallen asleep, as had Tobi, who was curled up to Josh's side like a Tabi cat. Josh surveyed the room, took a look at his loving family, and smiled.
