Vik finished up the last clumsy chopsticks-full of Pad Thai and smiled at Josh, who was sitting across from him. The older had finished long before, and the check was already paid for. As Vik hopped down from his seat, Josh did the same, and the two walked out of the secluded restaurant and into the bustling city.

It had become a sort of tradition, that every Saturday, Josh would drive home during his lunch shift and open the car door for Vik, who would be waiting on the front steps, and the two would drive into the city and go out to eat. Vik, being close to the only one of his brothers who appreciated good food, spent a decent amount of time looking up cuisines and restaurants, and would punch an address into Josh's GPS, surprising his eldest brother with a new restaurant every time. It was only an hour; maybe two, where the youngest and oldest siblings in the sidemen house chatted, ate, and bonded.

Josh led Vik along the grayish concrete back to his car, the two casually conversing about some new MineCraft mod Vik had picked up. For such a little kid, Josh often thought, his brother was a genius at technology. Vik stopped suddenly, and pulled on Josh's hand. Confused, the older brother looked down. Vik was staring intently at something in an alleyway.

Josh's first instinct was to pull Vik away, as there's never anything good to come out of walking through alleys in the city, however something about Vik's expression made him hesitate. The young boy stepped foreword, opened his mouth, and meowed.

Josh stared, confused, until a small kitten stepped out of the shadows. It looked to be about two months old, scruffy, underfed and quivering with cold. Its fur was dusty grey.

"Oh no," said Vik softly, crouching down and extending an arm. The kitten hesitantly padded towards him with a mewl and rubbed against Vik's hand, much to the boy's delight. He looked up at Josh, who sighed. He knew the kitten probably carried all kinds of diseases, but Vik's puppy-dog eyes were effective enough on their own, and paired with the face of a wide-eyed kitten; he couldn't say no.

Vik stroked his small fingers along the cat's fur the entire ride home, and Josh could hear the purrs from the driver's seat. When the two got home, Vik carefully opened the car door with his foot, holding the kitten gently while he slowly walked to the door.

"Whatya got there Vik?" was the first question as he entered the house. It came from Ethan, but it seemed to represent all the brothers, who were cooking or cleaning or doing homework or anything of that nature.

"It's... a kitten. She's hurt. And lonely- but she's my friend now." Vik responded carefully, as though worried that talking too loud would disrupt his apparent friendship bond with the cat.

"What are you going to name her?" Harry asked, running over to his twin and gazing at him admiringly, to which "I don't know." Was Vik's only response.

Meanwhile, Tobi had grabbed a large bucket and was filling it with warm water.

"Vik, bring the kitten over here." He commanded lightly. Vik did, and the older lifted him, kitten in arms, onto the counter, gesturing for Vik to set the cat down in the water, which reached the animal's belly. Tobi squeezed some soap into his brother's outstretched hands and carefully helped Vik wash the cat. The four remaining brothers crowded around the sink and watched the sudsy dirt roll off the kitten, revealing silky fur, so grey it was almost blue.

"I've decided what I'm going to call her." Vik said decidedly, and looked around at his brothers. "I'm going to call her Blue."

As his brothers conversed, Josh smiled.

JJ was going to have quite a surprise when he got home.
