Vik's breath was rasping in over-exertion and his legs were aching, but still he didn't slow. The sound of a chainsaw whirring into life behind him caused him to let out a strangled yell, doubling his efforts and dodging between old red brick ruins and wooden platforms.

'JJ, where the hell are you?' Vik thought to himself desperately. Last he had seen of the older man, JJ had been knelt next to him at a generator, his hands nimbly shifting over the wires, teeth clenched from concentration and the cold biting air. It couldn't even be told which of them had failed a skill check, but all of a sudden Vik had been thrown back through the air, the force of the explosion jarring him, and from his upside-down position on the ground he had seen a ragged and malicious form, advancing on him with a snarling grin and a bloody chainsaw. Vik had scrambled to his feet clumsily, and ran. That was the last he saw of JJ.

At least, Vik thought to himself, He knew JJ was ok, considering the killer hadn't gone after the taller man, instead choosing to follow Vik. A sudden flare of agony jolted through his lower back, arcing through his body, and Vik had just enough consciousness left to realize he'd been slashed by the killer's chainsaw. He fell to the ground with a muffled scream, and struggled to stand back up. Holding a hand to his back, it came away bloody. Vik broke into a limping run, throwing a wooden barrier across the path of his attacker, but the action lost him time. It wasn't long before another resounding drum of pain hit him and Vik was down on the ground.

The killer wasted no time, his gnarled hands crawling under Vik's stomach to pull the boy over his shoulder, Vik shrieking from the movement of his back. He clawed at the mummified arms that held him, kicking his legs out and shaking as best he could, but a sight up ahead made him freeze in terror.

The hook was black in colour, and rusted, but the evilly curved tip was still as sharp as any sword. Vik screamed and yelled, JJ's name intermingling with curses and pleas.

"JJ I'm hooked!" he cried out as a last effort, as he felt the cold metal against his shoulder blade. His bloodcurdling scream could be heard from the other end of the arena, which caused a flock of crows to flap loudly, climbing into the night sky like ghouls.

It wouldn't have mattered how loud the scream was, though, since JJ wasn't at all far away. In fact, he had followed the murderer at a distance, cursing internally as he watched in silent horror Vik getting stabbed through the back by the killer's mangled chainsaw. The older man watched through a pane-less window as Vik went limp on the hook, his face distorted into a grimace of pain. The chainsaw-clad demon, seeming satisfied, staggered off, presumably to look for JJ. The aforementioned victim held his breath as the killer passed within mere metres of him, his grisly heartbeat loud enough to send a painful throbbing through JJ's ears. As soon as the demon had disappeared, along with his heartbeat, JJ hopped nimbly through the window, sprinting up to Vik. The younger boy hardly noticed through his anguish, but a sparkle returned to his eye, one JJ knew as a spark of recognition.

"Alright lets get you down from here." JJ whispered, grabbing onto Vik's sides and pulling him upwards and off the hook, with surprisingly very little effort, as the younger was light enough to lift quite easily. When Vik was no longer held up by the metal piece, he collapsed into JJ's arms, not yet able to hold himself up on two feet. JJ held on to him, muttering soft phrases into the younger's ear and embracing him tightly (though wary of his previous injury).

A heartbeat startled JJ, and his head jerked up instantly.

"We have to go. Now." he whispered, pulling Vik up so the younger boy was half-leaning half-being carried by his friend. Together they limped out of the vicinity of the hook, crouching down against the cold rock of a barrier. Gently turning Vik away from him, JJ set to work healing him, eyes narrowed and teeth clenched. When he managed to roughly bandage Vik's jagged wounds, Vik turned around once more to face his saviour. His eyes gleamed in the darkness, and JJ couldn't help but notice the way his messy hair framed his face perfectly and his lips were curved slightly and his cheekbones accentuated perfectly his blushing temples and suddenly JJ leaned towards the younger and pressed their lips together, running one hand through the hair at the nape of Vik's neck and pulling them as close as they could be.

Vik let his eyes flutter closed and he allowed himself to be pulled closer, pressing both hands against JJ's chest in a feeble attempt to pull him closer or push him away, neither could tell. JJ grinned, lightening the kiss so he could speak, albeit murmuringly, through it. He was completely and utterly intoxicated by affection and he smiled.

"Vik, I think I'm the one hooked now."

"Oh my gosh JJ that was absolutely terrible!" Simon groaned, spurring a peal of laughter from Ethan and an embarrassed chuckle from Vik.

"No! No! Come on, that was pretty good." JJ yelled indignantly. "Vik liked it." he refuted when Simon continued to laugh, now joined by the low snickers of Josh, who had previously been silent.

"Vik, Come on, you know that turned you on at least a little bit." JJ said assuredly, his mouth a little to close to his mic for anyone's liking.

"What? No!" Vik yelled, disgruntled, through chuckles. He thought for a second before adding "Although I have to appreciate the pun though."

JJ's mocking responses of "See? See Simon, See?" and the laughter of the other three were cut off abruptly as Simon let out a rather girlish scream.

"Guys Josh is chasing me!" He called, audibly spamming buttons on his controller.

"Simon I've opened the gate nearest where I got hung up. Are you near there?" Vik asked hurriedly, and Simon let out a grunt of affirmation.

"Alright guys its time to get out of here." Ethan called, and the game continued.
