Simon yawned, his arms extending above his head in a full-bodied stretch. He was sitting with his legs crossed on the plush carpet of his room. Breathing deeply, he straightened his back and turned to set the timer on the phone in front of him to 8 minutes.
Simon closed his eyes for a second and remembered when he had first started doing this. He had been curious since he had read about it online, and had brought it up with the sidemen during a rare dinner with everyone at the house.
"I'm going to meditate before bed." He had said, and it had been greeted by laughs.
"Not a bad idea." Josh had said, grinning. "Maybe we all should try."
But the way he had said it made it clear that he wouldn't be trying it anytime soon. Simon had just grinned at his friends.
"We'll see what happens when I'm the only one who gets a decent amount of sleep." and he had winked at them all, placing his plate in the sink and retreating back to his room.
It had been around two weeks since he had started, and Simon had progressed from only being able to concentrate for three minutes on a good day, to eight minutes every night.
He took a deep breath and clicked "start" on his phone, eyes flickering closed.

The world faded, and Simon focused entirely on his breaths. Thoughts faded into nothingness, and his chest rose and fell easily. He couldn't tell how much time had passed, but it didn't matter, he wasn't focusing on the time. Where his eyes had struggled to stay closed at the beginning, they now laid still with no effort. His hands were lightly splayed across his knees, and the noise of the room faded to nothing.
He was completely and utterly relaxed.
After an eight minute eternity, the alarm on his phone rang, and Simon opened his eyes, and jerked back in surprise. Vik was sitting across from him, eyes concentrated on the older's face.
"Hi." he said lightly, and Simon raised an eyebrow.
"What are you doing?" He asked, and Vik looked away.
"I- I uhh... honestly, I wanted to meditate with you." He said, sighing lightly. "you know how fucked my sleeping schedule is, and I thought maybe this would help me, but I don't know how to really do it, so I just did what you did."
Vik smiled hopefully, and Simon barked out a laugh.
"Sure, come meditate with me anytime." he said, standing up and offering a hand down to Vik, who took it gratefully.
"You're the best." Vik responded with a smile. "Don't start without me tomorrow."
Simon nodded in acknowledgement.

The next day, Vik joined Simon as he was clearing up his dinner, wordlessly smiling at the older and grabbing a tea-towel to dry the dishes Simon washed. Simon nodded in thanks, and the two finished up and headed to Simon's room.
