All eyes were on Lachlan, and he had no idea. His eyes drifted over his paper, filling in answers as he went. The teacher continued to talk, but stuttered when her gaze passed over the boy. All around the classroom, students tried to focus, but felt their eyes drawn to Lachlan.

Lachlan lifted his hand to swipe his hair out of his eyes, and the whole class inhaled a collective breath.

Vik snorted quietly, and Lachlan glanced at him quizzically and raised an eyebrow, but Vik waved him off.

Vik was sitting next to Lachlan, as he always did, and his arms were crossed on his desk, his head resting behind them, so only his eyes and up were visible. Sweeping his eyes over the class, he periodically stopped to glare at other students until they looked away from Lachlan.

This was the issue with being the best friend of one of the most attractive human beings ever to exist. Lachlan seemed to radiate light. His golden hair glowed, his eyes had a sort of ethereal magnetism, and he was, altogether, perfect. Vik had been his best friend since before either of them could walk, and had been in love with him for just as long.

The bell rang, and reluctantly, people began to tear their gazes away from Lachlan to pack up their bags and make their way towards the buses. The room filled with its usually friendly chatter, and Lachlan turned to Vik. With a tired groan, he let his head fall onto Vik's shoulder and he closed his eyes.

Vik wasn't surprised, Lachlan tended to casually lean on him or hug him all the time (ironic, because of how much taller Lachlan was), but still, as always, he held in a gasp as his cheeks heated up. Letting his eyes flicker around the room, Vik noticed the jealous glares that were being pointed towards him, and shook his best friend off of his shoulder, becoming rapidly intrigued by a frayed thread on his backpack.

Lachlan raised an eyebrow, but shouldered his own backpack and stood up, Vik following his lead. The two walked out of class and through the crowded hallways of the school. People parted like waves to make way for Lachlan, and gawked as he walked past, but the boy noticed nothing, too busy telling Vik about some Pokemon game he had found. When the two reached their adjacent lockers, Lachlan sighed.

Vik turned towards him questioningly, and Lachlan threw him a wry smile.

"Am I ugly?" he asked quietly, and it was all Vik could do not to burst out laughing.

"What?" he responded loudly, baffled, and Lachlan gestured him to lower his voice, blushing madly and looking around to make sure no one was looking, which, of course, they were, their stares unrelated to Vik's volume.

"I just... there's got to be something. Vik, I'm undesirable, haven't you noticed that no one ever even talks to me, let alone asks me out or anything?." He sighed again, leaning his head on his locker, but his head jolted around when he heard Vik snicker. The shorter immediately covered his mouth , his eyes widening at the noise he had let out. Lachlan looked away from him, his expression pained.

"Never mind." he said, shouldering his backpack and walking away from Vik angrily. The brunet slammed his locker closed and ran to catch up with his friend.

"Wait Lachlan no, come back. I didn't mean to-... its just-" he grabbed Lachlan's arm and pulled him to the side of the hallway, out of the traffic in the middle. "Sorry. I didn't mean to laugh. I just don't know how you could possibly think that there's anything undesirable about yourself. I mean I think you're the only person in the school who hasn't noticed that-"

Vik scratched his neck, blushing awkwardly.

"Have you really not noticed the way everyone looks at you?" he asked, and Lachlan only stared at him quizzically. Vik exhaled sharply and looked away.

"Well... Lachlan I think everyone in this school is in love with you. I just figured you knew, because like- its hard to miss how everyone is constantly staring at you. Lachlan you are literally perfect in every way, and-" Vik spluttered, but it was too late to turn back. "I think everyone just believes that you're out of their league... I mean that's what I thought- I mean- Wait... I didn't mean it like- but- you know-" he broke off with a nervous squeak. When he finally gathered the nerve to look up at his friend, Lachlan's mouth was opened in surprise.

"Wait- you..." Lachlan mumbled, confused. "Vik since when? I thought you were totally uninterested in me. I mean I've been waiting for you to say that for like ten years."

Vik's eyes lit up.

"Really?" he asked breathlessly. "But... but you could have your choice of anyone in the world! I mean, no one would say no if you asked them out. You're literally the essence of perfection. I don't know how you haven't seen the way people stare at you."

"Vik, I've never noticed anyone staring. Maybe it's because I only have eyes for you. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You're pure perfection in my eyes." Lachlan spoke softly, and Vik's eyes welled up with tears.

Lachlan mumbled something under his breath.

"What?"

"I said can I kiss you." the blond muttered quietly. Vik's jaw dropped, but he grinned through his tears and launched himself into Lachlan's arms, pressing his lips against the taller boy's. In that moment, it didn't matter that people were staring, because all the two could see were each other.

Sorry all, this one's kinda sloppy. idk. It started out as a KSImon from that prompt I had a while back but this just seemed more fitting.
