Waffles and Wake-Ups -- Sidemen Family Short

GUYS I FINALLY FINISHED ALL OF THEM!!!!! 

Vik and Harry, naturally, were the first ones to wake up that morning, their excited laughter reverberating through the house before the clock had even hit seven in the morning, along with their loud, thumping footsteps on the hardwood floor as they ran around, full of their ever present energy.

Maybe it was a lie to say they were the first ones up, as Josh had been in the kitchen for the past hour, mixing batter and whipping cream and chopping up fruits. The two youngest twins raced down to the table, their enthusiasm making Josh smile.

"Morning you two." He said casually. "Why so excited." of course he already knew, but the way both boys jumped at him to yell "It's our birthday! It's our birthday!" as they did every year was too adorable for him to pass up the chance.

"Is it? Well I had totally forgotten!" He said sarcastically, laughing at the boys' wide eyes. They knew the routine by now, it was the same every time the twins' birthday came around. Josh lifted up Vik first, leaving Harry jumping up and down in attempts to see over the counter. It was at that moment when JJ walked into the kitchen, yawning but smiling at his children's antics. He noticed Harry's frustration and picked his son up, standing next to Josh to admire the beautiful layout his eldest son had created for the kids.

Two plates sat on the counter, a Belgian waffle on each, covered by superfluous amounts of homemade whipped cream, chocolate syrup, strawberries and blueberries, and each with a birthday candle plopped directly in the centre, blue for Harry's, and yellow for Vik's. Harry reached foreword in JJ's arms to grab his plate, but Josh scolded him playfully.

"Harry we need to wait for the other boys to wake up, don't we?" he said, and the twins needed no further prompting, charging up the stairs amid giggles to Simon and Ethan's room. Each took a brother, Vik scampering onto Ethan's bed and bouncing up and down lightly until his brother cracked open an eye and smiled up at him, affectionately but tiredly. Harry took a less sympathetic route, climbing onto Simon's bed and tackling him, Simon jumping up and letting out a surprised groan.

"Its me and Vik's birthday!" He shouted in Simon's ear, the other cringing but laughing as he shooed Harry in order to lift his blanket and get out of bed. Ethan did the same, leaning down to allow Vik to jump from the bed onto his back.

"Onward!" Vik shouted, and Ethan let out a peal of laughter, charging out the door and across the hall to Tobi's room, Vik still clinging onto his back.

"Tobi!" Vik screamed merrily, closely followed by Harry's chants of "Wake up Wake up Wake up!"

The second oldest child sat up in his top bunk and yawned, grinning down at his four brothers. He clambered down from the bunk, scooping Harry up and spinning him around in circles, much to the younger's delight.

"Happy Birthday you two!" he said genuinely, and Vik and Harry smiled placidly, Tobi for some reason always being able to calm them down.

When the five got downstairs, Josh and JJ were finishing up putting the final plates on the table. Harry and Vik scampered into their chairs, Simon and Ethan quickly following them, as both knew how amazing Josh's birthday breakfasts could be. Tobi was the last to sit down, taking his seat next to Josh. JJ lit the candles on his two youngest sons' birthday breakfast, and Harry and Vik smiled widely as their family sang "Happy Birthday," albeit off key.

When the final notes were sung, Vik and Harry closed their eyes, hands twining under the table, and blew their candles out in unison.
