It started out while Tobi was making dinner. As someone with a musical mind such as his own, the boy couldn't help but create a slight rhythm as he worked, chopping carrots at a beat, opening drawers with a sliding melody. Simon, who had been sitting at the kitchen table, struggling with his homework, began to bob his head. Josh padded into the kitchen to help Simon with his homework, and raised his eyebrow. Without a word, he sat next to his younger brother. Simon looked up and grinned. The boys began to work out math problems, but as Tobi's beat continued, gradually Simon's head began to bob again, and Josh couldn't help but tap his feet, and measure his words to match the beat.

Ethan entered the kitchen next, to help Tobi cook. He grabbed a wooden spoon from a drawer, but found himself stepping across the kitchen in time with the beat. With a slight side smirk, he began to beat box. The other boys looked up at this. Though they had all been affected by the tempo, Ethan was the first to notice out loud. Slowly, less certainly, Simon joined him, adding a slightly different, more melodic tone. Vik and Harry were the next to race into the kitchen. They had both heard the "music" from the living room. Giving each other a glance, both clambered into chairs. Vik started to play some sort of cup-song type game on the table, and Harry, perhaps less symmetrically inclined, started up a rough series of taps on the surface. The brothers all found themselves grinning, their beat gradually getting more intense as one of them would start a new addition to the music.

The door to the kitchen swung open to reveal JJ. He was carrying groceries, and his eyes widened at the musical gathering. He began to grin, and, to the absolute delight of his kids, broke into a loud freestyle rap. Simon stopped beatboxing only to act as a hype-man, repeating JJ's words and adding his own sound effects. Gradually JJ ran out of things to rap about, but Josh was quick to pick up the flow, and then, to everyone's surprise, Vik, with the fastest rap yet. The figurative mic was passed around the room, rendering everyone a rapper, and no one stopped until dinner was served.
