"All rise." Everyone stood up as the judge walked in. I was sitting next to Chris-I mean Ryan. Dammit I need to get used to his name. Ryan Ryan Ryan. We all sat back down.

I was waiting nervously and started shaking my leg. That's when Ryan put a hand on my thigh, "Hey, don't worry." I turned to him then turned to face the front of the courtroom where the judges and lawyers were. Damian's lawyers walked in and shook hands with Ryan, they exchanged a few words that I didn't pay any attention to. All I could think about was Damian and him being sentenced for life.

The judge was speaking but I was still zoned out until a door swung open from the front corner of the room

The judge was speaking but I was still zoned out until a door swung open from the front corner of the room. It was Damian, he came and sat down right in front of us with his lawyers. He looked at Ryan and exchanged nods then he looked at me. I looked at him.

We just looked.

My lips had parted as I breathed in deeply and I could remember the sensation he left on my lips the last time we kissed. I knew that Damian was thinking the same thing because his eyes landed to my agape lips. He sat down.

"Your honour." The crown prosecutor began his opening statement, "The justice system, in my eyes, is very fair and simple. You commit a crime, you are punished for it. You kill someone you get a life sentence. You have taken away a life you are punished for it.  However, Mr. Knight did not just take one life rather he took two. Yes, they were also criminals, but he was not the one to decide if they lived or not." The prosecutor pointed his finger aggressively at Damian. "Not only has he murdered two people, but he has also injured three members of the ICA. They were officers on duty only to capture Damian Knight for his crimes." I took in shaky breaths.

"Ryan." I whispered. "I'm scared."

"It's ok, the prosecutor is just going to try to make Damian's crimes look as horrible as possible." He said.

I exhaled, "I'm still worried."

After the trial, the judge had set another date for the next court appearance which was in 3 weeks. Ryan was driving me home, it was already 3:30.

"Hey." He called as I stared out the window in the passenger seat. "Don't worry about it."

"I don't think he'll get away with this." I said.

"Well," He sighed. "If he doesn't, that's unfortunate. But he deserves it. Aren't you in the ICA? You know the difference between good or bad." He said.

I stayed silent because we both knew why I didn't want him to suffer.

"But you love him and he loves you." Ryan said.

I looked at Ryan who was facing the road. "Are you my friend?" I asked.

Then he looked at me, "What?"
