Monday: 1:30 pm
Taylor's POV
The storm is still going strong outside, branches have been flying every now and then, hitting the power lines but not knocking out the power. The sky is dark outside, making it look like midnight.
"Mommy, I think it's past my bedtime." Jordan says.
"No it's not. The sky is just making it look like night. It's still the middle of the day." She replies, not looking up from her phone.
I throw a pillow at her face and turn towards the TV, making it look like it was Sean.
"Are you serious?" She says, throwing the pillow back at him.
"It wasn't me! Taylor did it." He argues.
"Oh sure she did. She's sitting all the way over there..." Ariana looks at me, her eyes accusing.
"Taylor." She says.
"Yes?" I reply in a sweet voice.
"Did you throw this pillow at me?"
"No, of course not." The storm rages outside, wind whistling, rain coming down in sheets.
"Whatever. I guess it's fair, all the sh- stuff I put you through." She says, causing me to giggle.
"Moooommmmmy, I'm sleepy." Jordan whines.
"Ok, J. Go sleep in your dad's lap." She says, pointing to her sleeping husband.
"What?" He says, opening his eyes as Jordan climbs in his lap.
"Goodnight daddy." She says, curling up on his stomach.
He looks around, confused. Ariana smiles at him and he rolls his eyes. Jaidon starts fussing in the crib and Ariana goes over to takd care of him.
"Hungry?" She says, walking back into the kitchen.
"I know I am." Sean says, placing the already sleeping Jordan on the couch.
"Sit your hungry butt down, you perv." I say, causing Karmani to giggle.
"Leave me alone. I'm only sitting because I want to." He says, sitting back down.
I roll my eyes and focus on the TV, Spongebob's Paradise playing.
10 Minutes Later
Ariana comes back in with a sleeping Jaidon and places him in the crib.
"My turn." Sean says, getting off the couch.
"Sit your ass down, you rapist." Ariana says, pushing him back on the couch and sitting next to him.
"Why is every woman in here being mean to me?" He pouts as Ariana kisses him in the cheek.
"Better?" She asks.
"Much." He answers, stealing another kiss on her lips.
"Get a room!" I say.
"Ok." Ariana says happily.
"Wait, I take that back!" But Sean scoops Ariana in his arms and runs upstairs.
I sigh as Jordan wakes up and climbs in my lap, only to fall back asleep again. The twins are watching another movie, Mackenzie and Oliver have joined them. Karmani has control over the TV and I'm on Instagram.
Karmani changes the channel to an old episode of Toddlers and Tiaras. Ariana and Sean walk downstairs laughing and talking.
"That was fast." I mumble.
"We didn't do anything. It was a joke." Ariama says, plopping down on the couch next to Sean.
She cuddles up next to him while watching the TV. A boom of thunder and a crack of lighting scare both Jordan and Jaidon awake. They bith start crying and Ariana groans.
"Can I get a damn break?" She mumbles, earning a kiss from Sean as she gets up and brings Jaidon back to the couch.
I stroke Jordan's hair and she slowly falls back asleep.
"What are we gonna do if the house ends up underwater?" Karmani asks.
"This neighborhood is gonna be the only people able to 'live' underwater." Ariana says, earning a glare from me.
"Haha, very funny." I say, rolling my eyes.
I lay down at the end of the couch, Jordan under my arm and slowly fall asleep to the sound of moms yelling at their daughters for losing the pageant.
5:00 pm
I wake up still on the couch, Jordan no longer under my arm. The twins are alseep together on the floor, Mackenzie and Oliver playing a game on the PS4, Karmani watching a video on her phone, Ariana and Sean asleep together on the couch.
I continue looking around but Jordan is nowhere to be seen. I yawn and get off of the couch, going to check on Jaidon in his crib. Once I see he's asleep, I start looking through the house for Jordan.
I go upstairs and into her room. She's not in there. I check in Ariana and Sean's room, my room, Jaidon's room, and the game room. My mind starts thinking of the worst things. I run downstairs and look out the peephole.
Of course, Jordan is standing on the porch talking to someone about her size. She has basically no clothes on so she's probably freezing. I open the door, grab both of the small children off the freezing cement, and run back inside.
I see that the other little girl is North and she's freezing cold. Her lips are almost blue and her whole body is soaked with water.
"What were you doing out there?" I say, wrapping both of the little girls in blankets.
"I lost my mommy." North answers, pulling the blanket closer to her.
I walk in the living room and put the girls on the couch, waking Ariana and Sean as I grab my phone. I dial Kim's number and she picks up on the 3rd ring.
"Hello?" She answers, sounding worried and rushed.
"Hi, this is Taylor. I found North, she's safe. How did she... what happened?"
"That's the thing, I don't know. I woke up and went to check on her and she was gone. We've been searching for her since this morning."
"Hold on, let me ask her." I put the phone on speaker and set it on the couch.
Ariana picks up the phone and starts a conversation with Kim.
"Nori, listen. Why did you leave your house this morning?" She doesn't answer but instead stares straight ahead.
"North, hello?" She continues staring straight ahead.
I go make her some hot milk and put it in one of Mackenzie's sippy cups. I place the nozzle in her mouth and it slowly drips onto her tongue. I carry her to the fire as Ariana continues her conversation with Kim.
North slowly becomes less stiff until she's swallowing sips of the hot liquid. She finally finishes and I place the empty cup on the coffee table. The small child lays down next to Karmani and falls asleep.
Ariana calls the doctor with Kim still on the line. After explaining the situation, the doctor finally comes to a conclusion.
"Taylor, listen very closely. You may have just saved a child's life today. From the symptoms, it sound like North was experiencing mild hypothermia." Kim gasps.
"Thank you, Taylor! I love you so much. Thanks for saving my childs life." She says, barely able to get her words out.
"No problem. I'm always happy to help."
