How To Mend A Broken Heart

After a couple of days you helped around the village. You had attented meetings with Valka to keep Berk safe and also to keep the dragons safe also.

Hiccup was also busy helping around the village. You didn't seem him as often but he had cheif duties to take care of.

You hardly saw him around and when he came home it was usually very late. Toothless was always with Hiccup making Midnight slightly upset since she wasn't with Toothless.

You felt bad for Midnight. She and Toothless had grown close but whenever Toothless had time, he would go straight to Midnight. Even if Toothless only had ten minutes to spare, it didn't matter to him.

Since Hiccup had to attend his cheif duties, you had to step up making sure that the gang was in check. You didn't worry about Astrid or Fishlegs but you certainly had to keep an eye out for the twins and Snotlout.

If you didn't step up, those three would have burned down the village already. Astrid had noticed you stepping up and taking care of things and made sure everything was in check.

Now you were in the academy watching the gang interact with their dragons, and also making sure the twins wouldn't burn down the place.

"Hey [Name]," Astrid greeted standing beside you.

"Hey Astrid," you greeted back.

"How are you holding up?"

"Pretty good I guess," you replied.

Astrid gave a smile as you turned around to face her and gave her a confused face.

"Whats with the smile?"

"Oh nothing, I just think you would perfectly fit the future cheif's wife."

You groaned as you leaned your head back against the wall. Before you could protest she spoke up.

"Now before you can protest let me explain why."

"Astrid not now."

"Why? I noticed that you had stepped up. Making sure the gang is in check and you've been attending meetings with Valka."

"Well I have to step up because if I didn't Berk would probably be burnt to ashes," you said.

"Exactly my point."

You turned back towards the gang watching them. You wanted to change the subject and as you looked around you noticed that Midnight wasn't around.

"Where's Midnight?" Astrid asked.

"I have no idea, I haven't seen her all day actually."

You slightly narrowed your eyes thinking of where she could be.

"I'm going go and look for her, make sure that they don't destroy anything," you said nodding towards the twins and Snotlout.

"Don't worry I will," she replied.

You gave a nod as you walked out the the academy.

You were walking around Berk trying to find Midnight but had no suck luck. It was already mid-day and you still haven't found her.

As you were walking you noticed Toothless roaming around by himself. It was odd because most of the time he was with Hiccup.
You than walked up to him.

"Hey what are you doing walking around by yourself?" you asked.

Toothless just gave you a dragon coo as he nuzzled your hand.

"Looking for Hiccup?"

Toothless gave a nod scanning the area.

"Well c'mon than lets go look."

You two walked around trying to find Hiccup and Midnight until you saw Astrid flying towards you. You noticed the worry look on her face and was about to ask but she beat you to it.

"[Name] come quickly Hiccup's in trouble!"

You gave a nod as you quickly hopped onto Toothelss.

"Alright bud follow Astrid."

Toothless nodded shooting up in the air quickly following Astrid.
You noticed that you were heading to the docks. You wondered why until you arrived.

Your eyes widen seeing Scar's ship.

"Ah, isn't it shrimp boy," he greeted.

"What are you doing here, what do you want Scar?" you asked coldly.

Scar just looked at you and gave you an evil laugh.

"Oh its not what I want, its what you want."

You narrowed your eyes in confusion as he than whistled for his gaurds. Your eyes than widen as you saw two gaurds come out of the ship with Hiccup's mouth gagged and his hands tied up behind his back.

Than more gaurds came out with Midnight tied up in chains preventing her to fly. Her mouth also was chained keeping her to shoot a plasma blast.

You stared wide eye until Scar spoke up.

"Well Shrimp boy you're going to have to choose."

"What do you mean choose?" you asked venom lacing your words.

"Well you're going to have to pick between Hiccup or Midnight. Whoever you choose we'll let them go, and whoever you don't choose will stay with us," he grinned.

You shook your head as you spoke.

"How do I know you're not lying."

"Well I could've just taken both if I wanted to, but I didn't did I?"

He was right. If he really wanted to he could've just taken both. You sighed shaking your head.

"I'm not picking, you can't make me."

"Well than we'll just take both of them with us, its all up to you."

Everyone was watching, waiting for you to pick. Valka stood there watching in fear with Gobber right besidd her, watching the scene unfold.

The whole gang were on their dragons watching and waiting for your answer.

You kept looking between Hiccup and Midnight. Hiccup was trying to speak but his voice was muffled, and Midnight was thrashing around but the gaurds held on tighter to the chains keeping her stable.

"We don't have all day, who do you choose?"

Everyone was silent waiting for your answer. Your heart was pounding in your ears and your hands were drenched in sweat from gripping the saddle too hard turning your knuckles white.

"I....I....choose....."

Everything went silent as you took a deep breath.

"Midnight."
