When I woke up, it was the happiest day of my life.
I felt like I had been asleep forever. Every single moment that had passed wasting away in the soft bed felt like I was floating in an endless space. I couldn't go anywhere. Couldn't do anything but hope and dream that someday someone out there would come for me.
And when he finally did, the chains were finally broken. The darkness of my mind opened up into a new light and I could finally spread my wings and fly through the wide, open sky. I felt alive, awake, and ready to start my new life with the person I loved. The one who had broken my everlasting spell.
But when I finally opened my eyes the moment his lips left mine, my world stopped and everything shattered. My chains were suddenly replaced by terror. My dreams, my hopes, my fantasies of true love and happiness were forever lost in the evil, bottomless eyes of my destined prince.
I tried to run from fate. But it was too late. Everything had been decided by that one fateful kiss. I was taken away by his men and before I knew it was locked up in a tall tower inside his castle. I found myself trapped once more. But this time, there was no more hope of a prince's kiss to set me free.
It hadn't been my fault that he found me in the deepest of forests. If I had known what was happening, I would have hidden better. Maybe even disguised as a witch. But reality is reality. For some reason, fate wanted us to be together, as much as I despise it.
The view is lonely in the tower. I haven't heard a single voice for months. The plants stretch on ages in the fields below. And I wonder what it would feel like to have control of my own life.
Curses and spells hold our society together. But I want to defy them. I will defy them.
I cannot cut the bond that ties the both of us together until eternity.
But, I will not go down without a fight.
I will defy gravity.
