If you are loyal, you will go back. That was the only thing on her mind.

There were many things that made a wolf. They were carnivorous, dangerous, violent. People hated them for their wild nature. It was a habit for people to tell stories to their children about wolves, who were the villains to every story. They would always be the one to stop the hero from advancing to their goal and was always the omen of death.

But, they were just stories. They were just myths. And Calissa knew that because she had experienced it. It was a wolf that had saved her life. It was a wolf that had become her most loyal friend.

Wolves were more than eager animals, travelling in packs to find their next meal. They were more than villains of a story. To her, they were the most playful of animals and the most kind. They relied on each other to live and always took care of one another. They were one, like a family, traveling in packs in order to survive. They did their best to overcome challenges, and did their best to protect those they hold close.

To her, wolves were the heroes.

Calissa looked at Rudi, leading the way and smiled in relief at the fact that he would always be by her side. He had saved her from many dangers more than once and had helped her throughout the years. His loyalty had been proven day by day, never failing.

She looked up towards their path as they headed back to the Yosn village.

Loyalty was what made a wolf.

Calissa went down the steep hill and towards the peach orchard that rested in the south of the village. The sun was just rising towards its peak in the sky and she could see the crowds of people crowding in the streets of the village, overflowing into neighbouring roads. She looked at Rudi and twisted her mouth in frustration. It would go so well if they were spotted in mid-day.

They were still quite a ways away from the village and it would have probably been best to wait until nightfall for them to continue on their journey, but she didn't think she could wait for that long. She looked at Rudi, who was beginning to walk around in circles. She didn't think he would last that long either.
