Calissa rubbed her tired eyes, yawning as the stars blinked down at them. Her back ached from leaning down for so long behind a bush as she watched the lights in a nearby tent. It was almost midnight and everyone had already retreated into their respective beds. The fields were empty, the barracks quiet, and even the guards seemed like they would fall asleep any minute. However, it seemed as though the prince was invincible to the night.

In attempt to find out more about the acts of the king, Calissa, along with Peter, went to find the prince's tent in hope to find out what they needed. A few miles away from the barracks was where all the guards and generals were staying. Even the prince, who she had thought would be staying at the castle every night, chose to live out in nature.

It had taken a bit of work. All the tents had looked the same and it was hard to sneak around with so many guards during dusk. But when the light of day vanished in the horizon, they had managed to find out where the prince stayed. However, ever since then, Lionel hadn't come out from his living quarters, rendering them useless until he did.

Calissa didn't know how many hours had passed with them staring at his shadow. The lighted lamp in his tent never faltered, always providing reliable light to the user. His shadow flitted across the room in response as he leaned back and forth in his chair. He was hunched over a desk and scribbling madly at parchment. He had been that way even before they had come. She almost pitied him.

A snore rose into the air, making her groan in irritation. She held back a yawn herself before nudging Peter with her foot. He stirred beside her and groaned, rubbing his head.

"Mm? What's-- What's going... on?"

"Didn't I tell you to stay awake?" she hissed quietly, eyeing the tent.

"Yeah, yeah," he waved his hand slowly, his eyelids drooping. When she kicked him again, he shook his head in attempt to wake himself up and grasped the bush in support, "I still don't get why I can't sleep while you're on guard duty. I'm tired and we have training tomorrow," he whined, "And you're the one that forced me here. Why did I even have to come?"
