Hey, guys! How are you all doing?

I'm sorry for not updating sooner. I've been busy lately. For the past few days we've been packing and moving into a new home, so I didn't have time to write at all due to everything that has been happening. But, the chapters here now, so that's all it matters.

I hope this chapter is alright. I feel like it might be a little rushed and not much happens and stuff, but... yea. This kind of needs to happen and I don't really know where this story is going. Literally, the characters are the ones leading the story most of the time. LOL.

Anyways, one to the chapter!

She lifted her hand in the air, allowing the sunlight to catch the crystal on her hand. The light streaked through the small window of the barracks, illuminating its reflection on the ceiling. The vines wrapped around her hands, but in this moment, it didn't hurt as much as it did before. Instead of wrapping around her skin in a bind, it seemed more gentle than before. Calissa lifted her hand in front of her face, observing it. The tiny crystal blinked at her and somehow just staring at it made her feel warm.

Although that could just be the sun that was shining down on her.

She shielded her eyes from the bright sun coming down at her, breathing a sigh of relief as the breeze came by. The barracks were long empty, leaving her alone in the smell of sweat. The other men had gone an hour ago, possibly to eat some breakfast before training begun. She had woken up earlier than most, but had chosen to stay. No one had bothered her, revealing the fact that they never cared for her in the first place. In this training, it was important to have friends. They would be able to support you and help you through it. However, Calissa guessed she didn't have a knack for those kinds of things. Not that she cared.

She pushed herself from the bedroll, pushing aside some fallen sheets away with her feet. As she did so, something crunched underneath her boot. She bent down and picked up a piece of crumpled paper from the ground.

The lion's key. Retrieve it.

Calissa furrowed her brow at the words, flipping the paper to see if there was anything else written on it, but that was it. She had found it near her bedroll, but for all she knew, it could have been for someone else near her.
