Chapter Eighteen: The Test

Shimmers Prov:

So today is the day.

I will have all morning to prepare and then the test will happen in the afternoon, today is the day that all the kids who turned 12 this year will get their powers. They will either become a Unicorn or a Pegasus. And for me I will either become a Unicorn Hybrid or a Pegasus Hybrid. Jade and I set out so that I could do some meditation before everything happens. It will help me to be able to bring in more either nano into my body.

"Where should we go Jade?" I ask my little friend.

"How about that cherry blossom tree over there." Jade says flying over to it.

"Ok" I reply running over to the tree and see her already curled up ready to sleep.

"Jade were not sleeping right now! You have to help me to practice! Come on test me on the names of the constellations again." I say giving her a little shake.

"Why you know all of them! Even Miss Glimmer didn't know some of the ones that you mentioned! You'll do fine Shimmer just take a deep breath will you!" She says sitting up and looking at me.

"I know what I'll do to calm my self down, I'll keep sewing your dress!" I say pulling out a small box from my pocket.

Inside the box is a bunch of little sewing stuff that I managed to buy not long after I came here. I needed some new clothes so they sent me out with some money and I ended up buying some fabric and a sewing kit to make my own dresses. So I sit down under the Cherry Blossom tree and start to sew the dress I'm making for Jade. Its just a simple sun dress made from blue and green fabric but the fabric sparkles in the sunlight which is what Jade liked about it.

She came with me when I bought the fabric and loved it on first sight. So I bought it and the kit and am making us matching dresses, Jades request not mine!

As the sun starts to set I finish Jade's dress and try it on here. I made sure to leave enough room at the back so she can still use her wings. As Jade twirls around in the dress Mystica walks over and calls my name.

"Shimmer come on darling its time for you to take the test." She says sitting down so I can sit on her back.

"I'm scared Mystica, What if I don't do well on the test? What if I don't get any magic? What if...." I start to say but Mystica then cuts me off.

"Shimmer my dear, I know you are scared but don't worry. Shooter and I have decided that you will still be able to stay. Because of the state we found you in. Starving to death and dehydrated we feel that at this age you wont be able to survive without our help." Mystica says walking on to the test site

I know what she says is true but I cant help feeling a little sad that she feels I cant take care of my self. Someone must have attacked me when I ended up here because I was badly hurt and had lost all my money, but I see where she is coming from. We walk towards a lake and I see all the other children who will be taking the test. Their parents eager to see what power they will take, its what also determines your last name if your father is a Pegasus your name will end is Pegasus but only if you inherit his power. For example if I was to inherit Shooters magic my name would be Shimmer Pegasus, but if I was to inherit Mystica's magic then I would be called Shimmer Unicorn.

As I climbed off Mystica's back and walk to join the rest of the children we all look nervous. As the moon starts to rise into the sky we all stand at the edge of the lake.

"Right young ones, take a deep breath and pull as much magic energy into your body and then use your mind to give it a form. I want you to think, Form. When you have that idea in your head the newly formed Pegasus children please fly into the air and begin the star dance and the newly formed Unicorns please stay on the ground and listen to Mystica." Shooter says looking at us.

We all stand in a line and start to bring the magic into our bodies. Some take deep breaths, some take gasps and I start so suck it in like when I'm about to attack using my Dragon Slayer Magic. Some then start to glow and leap into the air with wings. Some then have Horns and dance around here on the ground but I still continue to take in magic energy and try to give it a form. I am the last one without my powers yet and then all of a sudden something amazing happens. And this is something that will change my life.
