Milan Anderson
Biting my bottom lip, I studied the result sheets I printed for Elijah. I noticed right away that he had weak incredibly lungs, which could be a reason why it hurt so much to breathe.
I was interrupted by Mrs. Franklin walking up to my desk.
"Hey Milan. How are things up here? I miss you on my floor." She smiled, leaning down to hug me.
"Things have been great. Not too fond of some people on this floor but, I'll manage."
She gave me a side eye, already knowing who I was referring too. I soon found out that nobody actually liked Marie. This alone made me feel better about my whole situation regarding her.
"Just checking up on you...what you working on?" She looked down at the result sheets and I quickly opened my text book, blocking her view.
"Just studying." I smiled innocently but she didn't buy it.
"Milan...." She warned. "Something is up with you, let me see." She lifted up my text book and I hesitantly handed her the papers.
"Who's results are these?"
"Elijah's."
"Alsina?"
"Yes."
"Milan we never gave him this test...how did you-"
"Mrs. Franklin I can explain." I cut her off.
"You don't have to...I already know. Just..." she looked around to make sure no one was listening. "Promise you won't get caught?"
"I promise." I laughed, letting out my fist. She bumped it and we both smiled.
"You're a sweet little girl, you're gonna go far."
"Thank you. But look at the results, what do you see?"
She studied them and bit her bottom lip. "I honestly don't see anything but strained lungs, my guess is Bronchitis."
"Really?"
She nodded and I sighed. "I see that too, but I swear it's something more than that." I shrugged it off.
"What are you gonna do?"
"Tell him, get Shauna to prescribe him some meds, and send him on his way I guess. The problem should be solved now."
"Right. Well I gotta get going. Good job Milan." She winked and I waved as she walked towards the elevator. As the door opened, Shauna ran in with her work bag and purse in her hand.
"Shauna...you're never late. Everything good?"
"Mhm." She smiled, walking over to her desk. I studied her as she scrambled around, sitting everything down.
"Hey Shauna."
She jumped and her eyes widened. She placed her hand on her chest and gasped. "Milan you scared me, I didn't see you there." She sat down and rubbed her arm.
"Sorry, didn't mean to startle you." She handed me a Starbucks frap and I thanked her as we both worked in silence.
Deciding that I trusted her enough, I showed her Elijah's test results. She studied them and also agreed on Bronchitus.
"Milan when did you do all of this?"
"I stayed after one night."
"Do you know him?"
"No."
She nodded and began writing him up a prescription. "Well I'll give him this and maybe you can explain to him whatsup since he's a little more comfortable with you."
