Biting her bottom lip, Milan stared at the envelope.

"You gon' open it or you want me to?" Elijah asked, growing impatient.

Milan's exam scores were in and her and Elijah had been staring at the envelope for a good 10 minutes.

"I'll open it." She said softly, grabbing the envelope. She bit her bottom lip before shaking her head. "No...you open it." She handed it to Elijah who gladly took it, ripping open the envelope. Reading through it, his eyes frowned a little, instantly putting fear into Milan.

Milan's thoughts were cut off by Elijah's big hand waving in front of her face. "Milan? You heard me?"

"Huh? Sorry, what did you say?"

"I said you passed all ya exams. See." He handed Milan the paper and she looked through each.

"Oh no...no no no!" She began panicking as Elijah frowned.

"What's wrong Milan?"

"I-I got a C on my biology final. A freaking C!" She pulled at her hair a little, beginning to stress out. Elijah grabbed both of her arms softly, shaking her a little.

"Milan." He said, trying to get we attention. She continued her tantrum, causing Elijah to get a little louder.

"Milan!" He spoke, this time getting her full attention.

"Y-yeah?" She said, watching Elijah.

"Stop that shit right now, you passed didn't you?"

"I did but I didn't get an A! I was suppose to get an A. I worked and studied so freaking hard." A look of defeat filled Milan's face. In her mind, she wasn't living up to the unrealistic goals she set for herself. She was failing at being perfect.

"You did your best right?" Elijah asked.

"Yes." She softly replied.

"Aight then, thas all that really matta'. You gave it your all. So you good."

Elijah's calm and chill response gave Milan a different look on the situation. Slowly nodding, Elijah finally let her go.

"So you good now?"

"Mhm. But are you good? You look sleepy."

"I ain't tired, just a little drained but not sleepy ya know? And besides, we gotta get going."

"Where are we going?"

"You know I neva tell you these things ma'." He laughed, running his hands through his hair. They made their way to the front door, Milan opened it just as her little sister Mallory was about to knock. A little scared and surprised, Milan jumped back, placing her hand against her chest.
