I tapped the pencil against my forehead, shaking. Tests always gave me anxiety and if I was counting correctly I had a good 30 minutes left to finish this final. I still had 20 more multiple choice and a short response.
After flying by the multiple choice, I had 10 minutes for the free response. I felt my heart stop as I read the question.
Cancerous tumors are malignant. What does this mean?
I shook my head a little as my brain went blank. I had been testing all morning and I couldn't seem to figure out the answer.
Think Milan...think. You know this.
I tapped my foot and closed my eyes. I had roughly 8 minutes left.
Think...think..think. Got it!
I quickly picked up my pencil, writing my short answer.
Malignant means the tumor can spread into, or invade nearby tissues and other parts of the body.
I dropped my pencil, smiling to myself. My smile soon turns into a frown as I think of the irony of the question.
Elijah's tumors are probably spreading.
I begin to feel uneasy as I gather my things, turning in my exam.
"All done?"
"Yes."
"Good job Milan. It's been a pleasure having you in my class. Your a smart girl and I know you'll go far."
"Thank you Professor Norman." I smiled, grabbing my bag and walking out.
I had taken my anatomy exam earlier and now was done with biology. 2 exams down and 4 more to go. It was now noon and I couldn't wait to get home and go back to bed.
Although living on campus was an option, after I did my own calculations, I realized it was cheaper getting an apartment and splitting it with Arima. Ofcourse it was a little extra gas money, but I didn't mind.
Grabbing my phone, I saw that I had a few missed text messages, I opened each of them, reading.
Goodluck on your exam Mi! Love youuu😊😘 -Rima👯(8:04 am)
Thanks Arima😭 on my way home now. (12:09 pm)
You think you slick? I know you took the plate in the fridge that mama left for me😕😕 I hate you. -Mase💙 (9:08 am)
😂😂😂 oh hush, you love me pls💙 (12:11 pm)
Hey baby, don't forget about the $400? Thanks again and I'll see you later today😘 -King😜💘(11:34 am)
Sighing, I locked my phone. I didn't feel like going in the other direction for the bank so I will simply do it tomorrow. I decided to stop at IHOP on my way home, picking up breakfast. Once back at my apartment, I walked in, seeing Arima sitting at the table on her phone.
"Heyy I brought pancakes." I laughed, holding up the bag.
Her eyes lit up as she ran over, grabbing the bag for me. "Milannnnn this is why I love you." She sang, opening her container as we sat at the table.
